I've been mentally collecting the parts to make this shaft for some time now and it finally came to fruition.
All of these parts can be bought at TSC and I would say that I have less than $90.00 into it. It is a little nicer than a square shaft and does not vibe much at speed (60mph). It has a total of 8" of useable slip.

But how strong is it? Not saying anything bad about your work just wondering how its going to hold up to wheeling. That splined shaft is made to turn gear boxes and pumps from a PTO output on a tractor and don't see high torque that a drive shaft would see while doing some hardcore wheeling. If it works for you then that great and I'll look into it. You're going to have to do some R&D on it and report back to us on how it holds up.

i was looking at the stuff when i was at TSC saturday. I'm into my sq dshaft for $50(including original purchase of 85 dshaft). Vibes above 40, but i'm ok wilth it since i'm not running in the snow yet.
Good job on the innovation :xbeer3: . What's the thickness on the tube?

I looked at that for my front shaft but I ended up just modding the one I had out of an 82 yota. Sound like you got a better balanced shaft that way than I did. Hrmmm, I just might have to go that route, I am not to much into the square driveshaft although it is a good method of making one, I want mine to be balanced.

Looks pretty good. I think for "toyota" power it'll work just fine.

does anyone have any driveshafts for a ford dana 60 around? I'm going to see if I can find one to make a bastard shaft up for the front of mine. I think I have some parts from a rear yota shaft already, just need another shaft to be able to match up with the yoke on the ford.
oh yeah 5am is late. I'm usually up by 2am. I have issues though. lol

I only have a slight osolation from my square shaft and have had it up to 60, but don't like to run it that fast if I don't have to. How many times do you run the front that fast anyway?
That looks like a nice shaft, I just wounder how much of a hit it would take to bend the spline or were it is welded to the tube.
I landed on mine dropping off a 4' ledge on the Rubicon before the wheels had a chance to touch the ground. Only had a scratch from the rocks.
Let us know what you beat it on and how it holds up.
