A) Taco 2.7 w/ W56
B) Rebuilt 22re w/ R151
C) Something else (lightweight)

i'm at a crossroads in my build and replacing the HG on my rig has me thinking. I'm open to suggestion b/c i want to build the best rig i can. I have an R151 at home and i could sell it for Taco swap costs or toss it in and run the strongest toy tranny w/ a 4.3:1 first. Needless to say, i wouldn't be asking if i could run both.

Do the 3RZ. Its got a good deal more power than a 22re and is just plain cooler :xpimp:

Any you can get the TRD supercharger for it.

gotta love the R151 idea too tho. it's not like power is the biggest part of a trailrig. but i do like the idea of putting an engine w/ new technology and 10grand miles in my old rust bucket

I like the bullet proof 22re idea. 1st gear and dual cases and you'd have it made. With a lighter rig (like yours) highway speeds should n't be much of a problem with a properly setup motor.
My .02 is on known reliability.

7MGE or if really want to feel the power 7MGTE, you can find the doner cars cheap which would get you the wiring and the engines can be gotten for around $600.

If you don't like that then the 2.7L would be next in my book.

i honestly don't like the 7M idea. it's heavier and lacks the low end that truck motors generally have. It's a good engine, but not for my truck.

oh, highway speeds are good for me (i guess). 80 or so on the SPEEDometer with the pedal to the floor in 4th. 5th just bogs me down w/ 33s and 4.10

Lacks LOW end? You're worng its a inline 6 that has lots of power on the low end. My brother has a 91 Turbo Supra and I drove it for month and I can tell you first that it has lots of power on the low end. This is coming from some the also had a 96 Cobra at that time.

If you don't like that idea then thats cool. The 2.7L would a good choice too or built 22RE.

i'm a little hard up for cash right now, so i'll be letting it sit there contemplating my options. I'll leave this thread open for discussion as i wait for my wallet to catch up to my ambitions

Rebuilt 22re. Then you are just about gauranteed at least 150k miles out of it! If its done right...
