So far every thing has calmed down and I made it home. We had a tree up root and take down a Telephone pole. Luckily no of the main line was on that pole just service drops. Little did we know though that when the pole broke it shocked the other poles down farther ripping down 2 more service drops. We werenít able to start repairs till 4:30 and it was me and one other guy (well been that way all day) so we busted hump and replaced the service to all affected house. So far no other damage reported and well hope if there is more people wonít figure out till the morning.

Well, I'm in Miami to do training at Miami International airport.....everyone says "Cool, you get to go to Miami.". It would be cool except for 2 things...first of all, all its done is rain here....I could see that in Ohio. Secondly it doesn't matter that its raining anyway, because I've spent 13 hours a day inside the airport.....I feel like Tom Hanks in that movie The Terminal....I get to sunny Miami, but cant leave the da** airport! On top of that we're doing training in preparation of a major upgrade, and when things went horribly wrong with the software, I get to take off my trainer hat and put on my applications engineer hat....woohoo. I like a challange, but no one yells at the trainer because the software is messed up and things aren't going right. Sorry...had to vent. Maybe I'll just take it out on my truck on Saturday (that is if I get to go home in time). Well, off to bed. I have to get up at 05:00 so that I can get in and fix another guys mistake when he accidentially went in and made changes to the live database when he thought he was changing the test database. Hopefully I'll be able to get it fixed before the customer knows that anything is wrong, and that way we can at least tell them that we messed up, but its all fixed. :explode:

How do you view it - through the "new threads" or "regular"? (I say regular, cuz that's how I do it...) After viewing the threads in a subforum, I go to thread tools and say "Mark this forum read". I view it through "regular" . Typically as I read the threads, as long as I navigate back up through the root threads, it shows them as read. And actually the problem doesn't occur until I close my browser. I can read all of the threads, and they will all show as read, but when I close my browser, if I go back in, all of the threads that I just read now show as unread. This happens on both my home computer and my laptop (I thought that there might have been some funky security settings in IE causing the cookies not to register). Also sometimes it works just fine....don't know.....

Oh, and looks like you guys had a great time in Moab, even though it was raining....buy you'd be used to that...lol I wish that I could make the Moab trip next year, but I don't know if I'll have my trail rig done by then.

busy as hell at work right now, just found out I'm gonna need to start coming in on Saturdays till we get caught back up :(

We've got a wash robot, a oscillater set, 2 pump stands, and 2 wigglespray arches (http://www.petitautowash.com/index.html , click on accutrac touch free equipment) that need to be completed and delivered before the end of the year. We are almost done fabricating the robot which will need sent out for anodizing before we can assemble it, and just beginning to cut material for the rest of the equipment. Mind you there is only me and one other person doing all this, although we did manage to recruit the GM of our washes for a few hours to do some deburring and cleanup for us today

Sounds like fun there Terry. My work is getting good now as well we aren't all the way done with one project and now they are tossing 3 to 4 more the tech crew. I am getting realy worried that they are going to strech us thin and quality of work is going to suffer. I know already I haven't been able to do my normal job of plant repairs and mantiance for several weeks durring the current project and my work order clip keep growing.

99TanTaco
12-01-2006, 06:56 PM
yea I love how this always happens, nothing for months then everybody wants something and they all need it right away. I know what your saying about the list growing, for me it's always a bunch of "Hey when you get a chance" small projects by our existing customers.

At least I'm not in as bad of shape as our service/install guys. There's 2 of them as well. Currently they are finishing a in bay automatic (High Velocity unit) install in Akron, and starting a 2 bay self serve install in Killbuck. In the next few weeks we will be starting a install in Strongsville (MacNiel cloth equip with a few of our arches and pumps), and one of our guys will have to go to Seattle, Wash to oversee the install of a robot we sent out there last week. In addition these guys have about a 2 page list of service calls to get to between installs and once the equip we are currently building is done some one will have to go to Alabama for the install.

I guess I should just be happy that we didn't get swamped till it was cold and miserable outside and I was able to work liesurely hours all summer

Froggygirl
12-02-2006, 10:37 PM
Well I got some news earlier today that has me . The server guy/one of my bosses has decided that instead of shutting down the old DNS Monday morning when all three data techs will be ready to field calls and prepped for a rush, he is shutting it down tomorrow morning with only me to field calls. This is total fucking BS I should change the on call number to his so he can deal with what it going to happen. :suicide:

Well, I'm off to Miami again to help out at the last minute on a project at Miami airport. They are building a new terminal, and I have to go install access control and security systems for about 200 doors and elevators. As usual, instead of planning for it they wait until the last minute and then go crazy wanting it done before life safety. So, my company is sending myself and 3 other techs to do the work in one week. They said that if we get that done, then there is another project that we can get started so that we're not sitting around...HAH! The plan is to work 12 hour days Monday thru Friday and fly back on Saturday. At least I'll be able to ditch the sweat shirts and coat and wear short sleeved shirts. It's supposed to be between 75 & 85 all week.

So i went last weekend to have my tire mounted and balanced used a shop i've never used before.I went in and ask the guy behind the counter if they could mount and balance a 35 inch tire, the guys say let me check with manager. He comes back say yes no problem so 1 of the superstars come from the back to question if i have a 35 or a 315.I said NO its a 35 so he ask me again are you sure it a 35 not a 315 thats a big tire. I said NO again gtting kinda pissed this superstar is talking to me like i'm as dumb as him it a 35X12.5 X 15.Service writer tell me to pull around into the first bay upon the lift. One guys grabs the flat tire and new tire from bed and then tells the superstar to pull my spare off the truck.he proceed to left the truck head high take lugs off and about kills himself pulling tire off truck ,drops it say shit that MFer is heavy!

That sounds about like some of the people I work with.

It is amazing how many stupid people are really out there.

At least they did it......I have had a tire that has been loosing air every since Painted Rock......It was a slow leak so I was being lazy about fixing it. Well the other day I woke up and it was completly flat. so I take it down to the local tire shop and was just going to pay the 10$ to get it fixed rather then driving all the way to work to do it. They refused to fix it because they said the tire was "unsafe" do to the tread separating.......all it is is some lugs have been torn up a little.....nothing more than your standard issue rock rash.....the dude tried to tell me it could "blow up" at any time.

So needless to say I just fixed it myself.........apparently when the inside of your tire gets mud it and mud gets traped between the bead of the tire and the rim it leaks.......who would of thought??

Well, thats good to hear. You certainly don't need the stress of wondering if he's being taken care of, or being mis-handled. My Christmas was a'ight also. I got off my lazy Ohio ass and spent alot of time working on my truck and getting my garage set up. I still need to get a chop saw, drill press, and either an oxyacetaline torch, or a plasma cutter so that I can really get going. I finally went and bought the steel for my rear bumper, since my friend has been too busy to help me with it, so I'm going to work on that also. That will be a good project to practice my welding on before I go welding up a suspension on my truck :D Have you done anything with the 4runner? Are you planning on doing the cabin fever run at wellsville? I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that one or not yet.

would definately need more lift for 315 LOL

I am happy...........285's clear fine sitting at ride height on level ground with no mods......for daily driving I would need to mod the pinch weld just to be double sure they won't hit........for wheeling I am going to have to beat the pinch weld in, relocate the washer fluid bottle, trim some plastic and I will probly add a 1" body lift just to give a little more room......with all this I think the only issue I will have is very minimal frame rub but If they do hit it will not be enough to cause problems. :woot:

The tire I was using to test fit was a all-terrain type tread with about half life left......but unless the guys I work with and I are completely missing something i can make them fit.....even with full tread mud tires and wheeling. :) (the tire I have fits now and could be daily driven). I am only gonna add the BL if absolutely necessary.

nah, not really. they still expected me to work, I just was able to stay inside

though as you can tell by my above posts it took me a while to get motivated this morning

I can't believe they haven't figured out that making me come in earlier doesn't equate to me getting anymore done, it just means I'm going to stand around drinking coffee longer before I start actually working

Well done working now

several of our self serve bays were froze up, our in floor heat isn't keeping up. Me and my boss spent about 2hrs breaking ice up with a pressure washer and shoveling the ice out of the bays at our Norton wash, by the time we were done Our Carharts were iced up and difficult to remove as they had frozen nearly solid, we turned the heat up a bit, hopefully it won't be as bad tomorrow

We had to shut all our in-bay automatic washes down as we have no chance of keeping up with the ice buildup in those

no it wasn't, you should see the automatic bays, they have about 4-6" of ice on the floor and about a foot wide icicle hanging off the spray bar that goes around the car. my boss thinks he's gonna try to open them up tomorrow so that's gonna ruin my morning

ohio03trdtaco

Water + -0 degree temps= Ice uummm I think the car washes would be closed.

Sounds like you have had more fun with the cold than me.

spent 2 hrs chipping and melting ice at Norton, and 5 hours at Canal Fulton. In addition to the Ice buildup on the floors at CF we had another problem. My boss told the guys that work in the lube to open the valves on the weep system (allows a steady stream of warm water to flow thru the gun and foam brush between use preventing them from freezing between use) a little further so they'd flow more water thru them. Well the lube guys turned the valves (just simple ball valves) the wrong way and turned the weep off freezing everything, hoses, booms, swivels, guns, etc. after 5hrs we got 2 out of 4 bays going down there. We chipped the ice out of the automatic bay but we're gonna wait for it to warm up before we try opening it up

tomorrow I gotta run some rock salt down there and deliver soap to a wash in Ashland first thing in the morning, you can bet I won't be hurrying back
