Sorry guys.
This had to be done. Based on the pics so far, which one do you like the best?

This thread will be updated as new pics of the bumpers are released.
I like the extra 45* angle on the AllPro bumper, but I really like the hoops on the Bentup bumper.
If I had an FJ I would probably be giving Bentup my money.

I think I have to go with all pro on this one. It looks as if it follows the body lines and I really like the two light holes in the middle resembling the headlights.

I like the lines, and angles of the All-Pro, I like how it hugs the FJ body really tight, and looks like it weighs a lot less.
But like Mike said, I also really like the subtle "hoops" on the Bentup Bumper.
Overall, All-Pro got my vote.
(Not like that matters, b/c the only FJ I'll be getting any time soon will probably be a beater FJ40)

i like the steel one...:p
actually, i'm with the other guys, i like the approach angle of the All Pro and how tight it is to the body, but i also like the hoops of the bentup bumper....

The All-Pro one could be good, but like a previous person said, I like the steel one over the cardboard one. Once the All-pro one is done, it may have a very different look than the cardboard mockup.

i like the lines of the alpr in how it runs up to the flares, but the bentup one has the triangular pieces on the lower outer edges for a smoother transition on rocks. the sharp edge on the bottom of the allpro one looks like it will hang up a little worse on rocks without the angles on the sides. the hoop is nice as well but i would change it a little.

Once the bentup version was past the cardboard phase, those same lights seemed to realistically disappear.......

I actually like them both in their own way. I like the tube work as mentioned before, but I also like the subtle lines of the All-Pro bumper. When each are painted/powder coated, they are going to look great. It is really cool to see so much excitement over this vehicle. Makes me want to throw caution to the wind and drop 30k on one.

I dont think those are intended to be light holes. They are just access holes to operate the winch lever... same design as the 05+ Taco bumpers.

Not sure what the typical '07 FJ driver is gonna be doing off-road, but you can always take a Bentup bumper, smash it on a rock, and the bumper will win.

Not sure how thick the sheet metal is, but as long as it is at least 1/8" then I would consider it good.
I like both bumpers, but am partial to the AllPro because of what looks like an improved approach angle. Not that it matters... I don't have an FJ anyway!

AP purely for approach angle. I do wonder where the control cable is gonna plug in on the winch and how difficult it will be to get your hands in there to plug it in. Doesn't really matter to me though since I won't be buying anf FJ.

It doesn't look quite so huge in this picture, it seems to fit much better. I do like the way the AP bumper tucks in so close, but I also like the hoops. Having a TJM though, I know how convenient it is to have that flat shelf on top to step on and put tools, etc on! I would defintiely go with the Bentup, I don't think the approach angle is so drastically different that it would really matter.

Coming from a mall wheeling specialist, I guess that's a compliment - but to know what a real trail rig looks like, you'd actually have to go out ONTO an actual trail. That would involve potentially scratching the paint and or bling rims, which would diminish those valuable mall poser points. You might then need to park further from the shopping cart storage corral, and your winch cable might not be able to reach, rendering you helplessly high centered atop the dreaded speed bump again, and I wont be there to help next time... :D

Well... you could make the whole thing out of 1/4 inch and weigh the front end down. 3/16 would be ideal I would think but if designed properly with support I think 1/8 would be OK. Aren't the ARBs only 1/8? They seem to work fine for lots of guys.

It looks like the All Pro us tucked in more so has a better approach angle and has provision for some extra lights too. What is that narrow little slot above the winch for?
The Bent Up has better recovery hookups and the hoops are nice too.
Access to the winch drum is too restricted in both of them. Sometimes you have to get in there to take care of a back lash and neither seem to allow for that.

Yeah, well that's the sacrifice you make when you go with a 'internally mounted' winch bumper.

Mine is internally mounted and I don't seem to have that problem, Shannon. Take a closer look at it. http://www.tacomaterritory.com/photos/data/500/medium/DSC00151.JPG
Aside from the occasional back lash, putting on a new winch cable on either one would be a cluster fuck likely involving removing the bumper.
I suggest that you fix it guys.
All Pro just needs to open up the existing upper slot a tad while AJ needs to address his in another way. Maybe like I did with mine. BTW It's a modified Bent Up so should be doable since the overall design is very similar.

Why not just cut out a rectangle on the top of both of the bumpers that is big enough to access the entire winch? Then you could weld some tabs along the edges of the cutout, and make a cover plate that would bolt to the tabs keeping everything flush. The bumper would have the same look that it does now, but when you actually need to use the thing, you could simply remove a couple of bolts and there it would be. :2cents:

All Pro for sure. The Bent-up one looks too bulky, there's enough room to seat 3 people on the front of it. Clip a harness on the hoop and you've got extra seating when it's your day for carpool. I also have a winch you can't see easily when spooling the cable and it would be nice to open the top up a little more. ......Steve

My vote was for Bentup simply because it had a loop and corner light guard. Since Allpro's looks similar to Bentup's...they need only both have a loop and corner light guard and I would be stumped.

We (AP) are looking into having an optional bolt on grille guard option, that way those who dont want the guard wont be stuck with one, or to split it up to lower the initial investment cost, and it will make the package smaller for easier (& significantly cheaper) shipping. Also, the bumper and winch mount are 2 seperate pieces, so installation wont be such an issue because the weight of the winch and carrier wont be attached to the bumper itself. This is only the prototype, we will consider hole size for accessing the winch cable before making the final production model so the bumper need not be removed to fix cable jams, that is a good point.

I like the compact size and approch angle of the AP and it allows use of the stock tow hooks which seem to be strong enough. I think the AP would look good on a stock or slightly lifted FJ and the Bentup would look better on a higher lifted FJ with bigger tires because it would be more proportional to it's size. :2cents:

I think the AllPro is just a slight bit smaller and I like that. The Bentup on Andy's looks a little bit TOO beefy. As in it sticks out a little bit much. I too like the hoops though, maybe if it sat just a little bit closer to the body I'd pick the Bentup. Both great work though. :2cents:

I threw my vote in for AllPro... I do like the hoops on the Bent-Up bumper, but think with some skill it could be added to the AllPro one on the angled portion, and look sick. The Bent-Up one seems to be a bit too much overkill sticking out just a tad too far for me, where the approach angle would suffer.

I like the allpro one better. I like the way the lines flow. I also agree and dont like the hoops on the bent up one. I like my bumpers to flow. Maybe mix the two together. The beefyness of the bent up with the flow of the allpro. But for now i like the allpro.

I like the lines of the All-Pro, but the Bentup will be stronger and more trail worthy.
