The history section on the site isn't correct... I owned a 1984 BJ-42. It says the 40 series trucks ended in 1983. But hey, I guess I'm picky. :p

So woulldn't that make it a 42 series truck?

The 42 series was the 40 series with the 3B diesel engine. The BJ-40 was the B diesel (up until 1980) and the BJ-42 was the 3B diesel (81 - 84). Both 24 volt electrics, just a slightly different engine and 5 speed & power steering was available factory for 83/84. I actually owned a 70 BJ-40 and a 84 BJ-42.

Toyota lumps them all together as 40 series trucks and the on the site they show the BJ-40 continuing to 83. Again, I guess I'm just picky :p

This bites... now I miss my old Cruiser again :(

Yeah I know that Toyota lumps then all together into the 40 series, just like they do in the 60, 70, and 80 series. However they do break out the 55 and the 62 into their own. I was just kidding ya.

Sorry to hear that you miss it, I miss mine as well.
