I'm rather new to the club, and I'm looking forward to runnin some trails! I'm getting the itch to get out, (just not working on the lawn) and gettin' the truck dirty! I was thinking a trip up behind the Broadmoor hotel, "Old Stagecoach Road" and turning off on to any of the forest service roads would be a good starter.
There are quite a few trails that are worthy of a 'warm-up' run, just to get our trail legs back. E-mail me if you're interested! Dosen't have to be an all-day thing, whatever works for anyone that wants to show up!
I'm planning on meeting up at the Starbucks right off of Lake Avenue, just behind the IHOP and Fire Station at 0900 and leaving @ 0930 (I think there is a Border's Books Store there too)

Coincidentally, I'll be in the neighborhood...but I'll be picking my truck up from Armorology! won't be there early enough. This stagecoach rd. seems to be quite popular. I'll have to check it out some other time

The 0900/0930 is only an aprox time...we can hang out and wait a lil bit for you to get your 'wheels'. Let me know what you'd like us to do. You can always reach me on my cell. 719-244-3025
The Old Stage road is a good one...nice washboard/hardpack to get you up in the hills with a bunch of nice turn-offs!
Hope to see ya there!

Trip Report: Old Stage Coach road's side trails
I'm sorry that nobody showed up...But thats the way it is when its only a weeks notice :) We met up at the Starbucks, got some Joe and hit the trail. We aired down at the trailhead, and headed up the hill. We found ourselves following a jeep-get-together....there were about a dozen pretty well built Wranglers n such. Didn't spend much time with them, but rather decided to take our two vehicles on some trails further off the beaten path.
Ben (jeep friend) and I went up and played in the backcountry behind Pike's Peak for the better part of the day. My wife had her first time drivin the Tacoma on some pretty good whoop-de-dos. She's hooked now! She said "I can't wait to go again and actually do some camping!" WOW! Wheeling is a lot more fun when your wifie's having fun wheelin with you! My son loved it too. Can't wait to do it again!
Here are a few pics of the day:

Jeff; sorry I didn't make it, I wasn't able to get to the Springs to pick up my truck till 5PM or so. We talked Sunday on Will's phone about your supercharger issue. Did you check out the URD site and search the national forum? Your issue def sounds like the typical detonation that comes with insufficient fuel. Post up, there are plenty of blown trucks on this forum.
You gonna make it to Slaughterhouse the 20th? It's gonna be a good run! Should be a good turnout, too. hope to meet you there!

Oh man, sounds like you had as much or more fun than Will and I did the weekend before up there. It's an awesome place to wheel. I'm ready to put my Cooper STTs on Eagle Rock...maybe if I get all the "honeydo" chores completed I can play Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
