I did a search, but came up empty handed.
I have a 03 Tacoma TRD, 5 speed, 3.4L. Looking to install cruise control in it. How much of a pain is this to do on your own?
Thanks,
Nick

I don't have a write up but all you do is get a bicycle shifter and some cable mount the shifter anywhere you want to(I like it on the transmission shifter like mine). Run the cable and attach it to your throttle and there you go.
To use get up to desired speed and lock into position. Be careful though cause it won't turn itself off when you hit the brakes. If you push in the clutch you could also blow up your engine. When you hit a hill you may or may not have to adjust to keep up speed. :D

That is one GHETTO cruise control. But if it works for you, who am I to judge?

Are you buying a kit from Toyota? I put a kit on my 96 2.7 5spd that ran me like $230. Its basically the same kit that Gulf Coast Toyota uses. As soon as I get home from work, I'll post pics of my install. Its DEFINITELY a great mod if you don't have it, if you do lots of highway driving like I do!!
check this out before you buy the kit, the cruise may already be there...

I got my kit off of ebay, but M & R Electronics sold it to me. They've got their own website I think its HERE (http://www.mnrelectronics.com/). They sell ROSTRA accessories, which is a really good aftermarket company for "luxury" type mods, cruise control & seat heaters. Sorry for the shitty quality pics, I took em' w/ a cell phone cam and I was in a hurry. Hopefully this will help you out!
Here's a pic of the tach wire, it hooks to the igniter, as you'll see in a pic below.

I basically mounted the stalk as close to the "stock" location as possible. It turned out pretty good ;)

Its hard to see, but the grey wire hanging from the dash cross bar is connected to a white wire w/ an orange stripe on the wiring harness to the ECM

Great info guys! I'm gonna do some more digging. Maybe I'll get lucky and everything will already be set up aside from the cruise switch. This truck has every other option BUT cruise, so I may get lucky.
Thanks again!
