Although I have not recieved my FJC yet, it should be in within the next few weeks. One of the first projects (if you can even call it that) is installing a CB Radio, for off-road communication purposes. Has anyone though of installing a CB, if so where would be the best place to mount it. I was thinking of mounting it one passanger side of the center consol towards that bottom (That's where it is installed in the Titanium Toyota Trail Teams FJC)
Thanks in advance

Being that this is going to be a brand new truck and that you will probably NOT want to start cuting apart the dash, I recommend you get the remote unit made by Cobra:

You could mount the little box underneath the center console and run the cable to the mic. out the side...make it work...I don't know what the new FJs look like on the inside.
But shit man! If you're willing to cut away, by all means, cut away!

Nice rig! Is that a General Lee? How did you do the mounting?

I thought about purchasing one of the remote units similar to the one miguel suggested, however I have already recieved me cb and antenna so that won't be an option in this case. I also considered the ceiling mount, but since there are speekers mounted in the ceiling, I was skeptical; additionally that rear view is already bad enough, I didn't feel the need to obstruct it any further.

Speakers in the ceiling??? Just sell your CB to a buddy and get the remote mount one. It's a sweet CB (I use it).

Any idea how big the sending unit for this thing is? the Cobra website speaks of mounting it under the dash, but this realistic? Looking under the dash for potential spots, I wondering if there is any need to reach the thing? power on, etc?
Thanks,
Rob

I have Cobra 75 WX ST CB, and it's great!
The Remote Connection Box is about the size of a bar of soap (3 1/4"L, 1 1/4"H, 2"D). You really could mount it just about anywhere.
I highly recommend this CB.
I mounted mine under my center console. Here are some pics.

If the FJ comes with a double din sized radio slot with the normal single din sized head unit and a pocket befow that you can get the Cobra 18 WX STII (or something like that). If fits a DIN slot almost perfectly, that's what I have in my 91 and it looks factory, right in the dash below the stereo.

nope, unfortunately the FJ has a double din factory radio, even in the base trim level. this would be a great idea if you were planning on going with an aftermarket radio though.

I like it! I've been in need of a CB for a little while now and I think this one is it. What type of antena did you use and what are you getting for a range with the thing?
Thanks,
Rob

My friend is doing something very similair to this in his Tacoma, unfortunately it will not work in my case. I will most likely install it where I had originally planned, on the passanger side of the center console near the feet of the passanger. Although it is not the prime place to put it, it should work.
thanks,
how about mouting it on the dash.. above the clutch start cancel button you know that silverish part.. you could hide all the wires though one of the buttons.. nice and slik.. and it's right near your left hand.. if you drive a stick shift it's perfect.

This would be a good location, I will look into it once i recieve my FJC. Additionally I will not be getting the Manual, I decided to go with the automatic and payed the extra money to get the rear locker.
