I was thinking to save a few bucks and one day get the sas done I could go with leafs instead of coilovers. So, would you guys do coilovers or leafs and why?

I'd say link it and go with the coilovers but the leaf springs would get the job done just fine. Might possibly be interested in that fabtech.

Leafs would be the easiest but the ride quality. Rancho 44044s would be the springs you need or the ones Marlins been making.

leafs, they should be a bit tougher. I've never heard of people complain about the ride quality, some prefer it over a built up ifs. Those rancho leafs are extremely flexy also, so don't worry on that end.

I think I'm kinda with Christian on this one. I've seen where lots of people have been real happy with leafs and it's alot more cost efficient. You can use the extra money to build up the strength factor, too. Leafs are tried and proven. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is also coming from somebody who just recently learned the difference between a flat head and a phillips head.

The reason I asked for Colby's info is that he know's someone selling a set of marlin leafs for the front. Thanks for your suggestions, I think leafs are more in my budget even though I would love to have coilovers.

All Pro 5" leaves :2cents:
From what Ive read the 44044's are stiff and provide too much lift. But some people do like'em. It just seems lately 44044's are becoming less popular for the aforementioned reasons.
Try the AP's, Marlins, or custom Deavers or Alcans too.
Oh and if you use the 44044's Ive seen a lot of people take the 44044 main leaf, then stock Waggy leaves and the rest of the 44044's and mix the leaves up to get the right amount of flex/lift.

If I went with 5" all pro's would the truck sit lower or higher than it is now?

the leaves will definaltly be more cost effective and easier to set up. one downside would be not as tight a turning radious as the tire to leave contact will be your limiting factor but taco's don't need all that much room anyway. coilovers are nice but man they're proud of them. just my $0.02.

Thanks bro. Just when I thought I would be able to start the project up again the wife makes a major change. One that is going to cost me about as much as the sas.:wife:
I would :wiggle:, but I owe her this one big time!

Who knows. Depends on the hanger and other factors too.
I have a trail gear SAS with 4" lift springs and last time I checked I was somewhere between like 6 or 7 inches over stock.

Yep. Chris its kinda hard to tell. Read through the SAS Tech on the NB and look at other leaf setups and see what tire size/ leaf combo others are running.

The best riding, trickest & most capable of wild flex are are coils. But the link system to go along with 'em must be well designed and fabricated. I don't think coils are 'less tough' as long as the link system is strong!

I was talking to chris and we can do coils, not coilovers, for the same price as leafs
The design I suggested.. Control arms with coils sitting on top of the brackets.

Nice design! I would go with that setup over the leafs anyday.

Chiming in late... But when a few of us went to mud for blood they had a nice RTI ramp and of coarse everyone was flexing on it. Suprisingly enough a heep with leafs did the best overall. There was plenty of guy with coils doing great but whatever leafs he was running was damn perfect.
