Lifespan 10-15 yrs in capitivity.. they are classifed as an exotic animal thankfuly they are LEGAL to own in texas !

they must be taken in pairs ! they crave attention and company and if you cannot be there 8-9 hrs a day they need a playmate.. hence the taken in pairs only !

there are rare circumstances where gliders prefer to be alone and will make exceptions in this case..

they are very loving and tame , easy to take care of you can build your own cage with hand tools (bigger the better)

These gliders are being given away *free they range in ages from babies to teenagers and adults

*denotes to good approved home and care

I will have around 12 by end of august to introduce to new homes.
no commerical shipping ! only way these guys will get shipped is if you come get them or a houston member is coming your way and will transport them.

In the future should u get a pair from me I can be reached 24/7 at 713-548-7471 for questions you may have about them.

and to answer the biggest question you may have ..

YES they can fly/glide !

How about clean up? is it like a cat litter box? Why are you getting rid of them? Did yours have a bunch of babies? Are they smart? Can they do any tricks? And it's safe to put them on your shoulder and take 'em out? Do they swim?

swim NO.. they can drown quite quickly..
clean up clean their cage often and theres no smell. they are as easy to care for as hampsters dispite their diets.. but after a week their diets are routine.

you can have them on your shoulder in public as long as you know they are bonded to you and wont run off. i take mine to walmart and other misc places they have a little pouch they like to hang out in and i take them out time to time . tricks ? hmm they have their own personalties and each are unique.. smart definately ! they still amaze meto this day .

No im not getting rid of my personal gliders a friend of mine in san antonio who breeds them is having two sons undergo kidney transplate and cannot take care of them and the kids. so she offered me the entire colony (12-14 gliders) for free. told her i couldnt take them all but she suggested that I can give them away so here i am :)

they range in ages from babies and teens to adults.

Cool lookin little fellas, but I think my wifes cats would consider them "beef on the hoof" and try to have a meal.

I go to SA on the 19th to pick them all up bro no one has 100% committed themselves to these little guys yet..

Buddy must take two ! they are no harder to care for two ..

reason being:
these little guys will get depressed if alone and not handled alot with 2 you dont have to handle them as much ..

depression leads to death within first week of moving.
When I originally got into these little guys I started off with 2 and gave them about 3 hrs of attention daily..

your friend must realize in order for these guys to adapt to you he/she will need to put each one individually into a "bonding pouch" and wear it around their neck near their heart.. it will calm the glider , get it use to your smells and speed up the social bonding..

I will be offering training sessions if need be to help new owners adjust . I will bring my personal gliders with me to monthly meeting ,

In the beginning both of my personal gliders were very social.. then one evening the male had an accident and got trapped under his water bowl, he has forever since been skittish! thats how easily these guys will adapt and change their personalities.

but if i bring both my female will remain calm enough I can let her socialize with you guys .

I must also mention these do not make good pets for anyone under 16-17 yrs old !! anyone below those age's is just not mature enough to realize the maturity it takes to be responsible for a pet like these.. they do tend to nip and taste u.. looking for something sweet to nibble on..

my main two gliders my original two, to this day still nip ever so often looking for a treat :) it doesnt hurt and doesnt break the skin sometimes they will lick and nibble and poke.. its their way of grooming you.

their teeth are NOT like rodents so you cannot have them filed as they will NOT grow back..

their toenails can be clipped however i recommend having them done professionally at 15$ for each glider via local vets. if you clip their nails too far two things happen

1) they cannot grip on to clothing / cages
2) clipping nails too far will cause them to bleed !

so if your intending on these guys as kid pets then consider it not an option. I'm going to take real care into selecting new owners for these guys so be prepared for my questions and teaching you about them.

Sounds good Mitch. That is good that you are taking care and not just giving them out and not worrying about what will happen to them. I will email everything you just wrote to my buddy, he has had two before, but better to be safe than sorry!. Thanks
