Been gone awhile from the site but just wanted to post that I did these trails this July. Forgot how fun Imogene is. Ophir also good but did have to pass a gonad unfortunately in a Toyota. MAde him back up to passing point. Long story I will post later if anyone interested. PS if you are in this site dude you need to learn THE RULES.

Did scofield an that was much scarier than Imogene but only cause of the trail description and I wasn't sure if it was gonna get harder. People I passed were shocked I was trying but really not too bad. One spot on punch bowl I needed 3 tries to get up but once I cot the right line and used momemtum it was a piece.

Anyway will try to post pics later

It sounds like you were 'wheeling by yourself, which doesn't give you much room for the "holier than thou" attitude.

Hopefully, I'm wrong.

If you mean "by myself" no othere 4x's the answer is no no and yes, If you mean "by myself" meaning no one else in the vehicle the answer is no no and no,

I was wheelin with a dakota around To hell u ride. Bothe of our families were with us. On Scofield it was me and my family and about 10 other 4x's that were up there too. Just met them etc.

Wasn't sure what you meant by your comment, till I reread my post, Forgot I was bitchen about the gonad.

Not holier than thou.....I said I would give details if some one interested, Sounds like you are so here goes.

So we come around the last switch back comin down the west side of Ophir. There is a pull out and you can see the road for say a mile, one lane no pull outs. Some trucks are at the other end comin up so we pull out and wait. There were 2 trucks that stayed behind and eventully turned around. Once the remaining 3 trucks go by we start down. We get 3/4 of the way down and this guy starts comin up. He passes at least 3 turnouts and comes up nose to nose. He is by himself, we have 4 trucks comin down No turnouts behind us for at least 1/2 amile. Anyway I guess I can see how that makes me holier than thou since we waited for the guy, he turned around and left, then comes back after we were 3/4's of the way down.

Here is a picture of the stretch of road. We parked behind the ridge were the road disappears on the right. He turnned around at were the road disappears on the left. Didn't reappear till we were at the chute between the 2 rock out croppings.

Other than this minor irratation It was a great trip. Lots of 4x's all over. Will post more pics once I resize em.

Happy 4wheelin

Sounds like a good trip. We ran the same three passes one weekend about three years ago. I know the spot you speak of on Ophir well.....but technically you were in the wrong about right of way. The person going up ALWAYS has the right of way, but yeah, good trail etiquette suggests that dude was a tool for waiting unitl you were on your way down before starting up. I think there should be a trail etiquette sign or brochure at the beginning of a lot of the more heavily travelled roads. Last time I was on Ophir, we had to wait forever for a couple of lesbians in a CRV because they got out and stacked rocks in every little rut and needed ten minutes of spotting to get over every speed bump sized rock. I gave them a quick lesson about trail manners and suggested that maybe they should stick to the paved roads or pay for a ride along jeep tour.

Schofield can be scary going from CB to Marble, especially if there is no-one around who is familiar with it. Going the other way isn't so bad, but that one obstacle at the punchbowl can be pretty intimidating. My first time, I chose a line that had the truck teetering on two wheels at one point, then I watched someone with some experience drive down it like it was a curb at the gas station. People do give you funny looks in town when you ask if Schofield is open. I think the most common response is not yes or no, but "What are you driving?".

I'm glad there were lots of other people around, but what if there weren't? 'wheeling without another rig with you, especially on trails you aren't familar with and that may be above your level is not smart. Little things can become HUGE problems that may result in death without the assistance of others, and while the 4WD community is better than most, you never really know if that person will stop and offer assistance or not - especially in our litigous society today.

Perhaps the greatest thing about TTORA is that you shouldn't ever have to worry about 'wheeling alone - can just about always find someone to come with you!

Sounds like a good trip, I'll have to get Molly to take me out there sometime.

Yes I went from Marble to CB. I had checked with the guy who lives in Crystal and he said I could make it. Boy when you get to the top what a freakin Zoo. there must have been 200 mtn bikers there. Yea I know he had the right away but when ther is no where to pull out etiquette should overrule and usually does......at least I do.

thanks for the tips and I know. As a matter of fact this is why I have only done the 1st 1/2 of Holy cross. I always stop past the one way. I don't want to take on that rock without some help.
