Floridirt don't play! One thing? Why the 3" body lift? WHY-WHY? Well in the East Coast it don't matter. You need that extra body height for that nasty rain. I know because I just moved to Cali from Clearwater, Floridirt. Cool looking ride cuz it be CHAOSed. $$$$$$$$$$$$ouch$$$$$$$$$$. I thought I spent a lot.lol

Haha! Thanks!

Yeah, by the time I got to TX I was thinking it hadn't been such a good idea! Maaaaan, Tx is loooooong. It took me forever to get through there. Loved the trip, but don't know if I'd like to do it again...alone! :) Yes, I was very pleasantly surprised when I got to see Ryan's shop, storefront, and services. Very nice and it looked like they knew what they were doing! Couldn't be happier with my choice!! I'll definitely keep all posted!:xrocker:

Well,

To run the 35s you really do need a body lift, even with the LT kit. Last I checked it shouldn't have a 3" body lift. More like a 2". But its difficult to tell from the fotos...I'll double check that. Don't know if yota4life had to do that with his truck but I know for sure Lance (has a bad-ass green 4-runner with the Chaos LT kit did that. Otherwise there would be substancial rubbing.

LT no body lift 35's. Clearance the cab mount and you are in there. Wheels need at least 4.25 backspacing. My clear. I jumped my ride out in the desert many times with no problems. It's not to late to take it off. I can take pictures of what DMZ did for my Cab mount.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for the link. I actually have contacted you before about this same issue and I can't believe I hadn't thought of your great article! I never liked the body lift, but now that I'm certain I don't need it, its gone!!!! Thanks!

That cab mount is rediculous. That is what gives all of us newer taco people problems with big tires. DMZ was ready to cut what ever was in the way and make it work right. I'm sure SDHQ will make some killer plate to put in there after they cut that thing out. Looks like we luck out for 35's. 37's that will be a problem. unless you have a bodylift. Lookin good Marco.

I love the ride height and moveable tire rack which lets you load your Dirt Bike into the back. I hope you didn't mind but I tested it out and set your alarm off when I shut the tail gate. It's to bad this thing has to go back east. This thing would mob it up out here. SDHQ did a very NICE job. All I can say is DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Hi Jeff!

Thanks for posting the pic! No problem, man! Hope the alarm didn't scare you! :) Yes, the swing out carrier was a go from the beginning...That was one of my must haves! Also notice the cool antenna on top...integrated xm, fm, am etc...and also...the flush fuel filler door. Post more pics if you have them!

Marco

He'll probably cage it if he comes back to the west syde. For what he had done it was like buying another truck and a new dirt bike. I know that it wasnt cheap. They did some killer work on that thing. He still needs to regear. Until some one comes up with front gears for the front diff he will be able to do that.

I was hangin out by this truck and the SUD Productions booth most of the day. I studied this thing. My rear is going to be somewhat like this. but with the full bed still.

Marco be sure to have that rocker panel spray sprayed on the front part of the bed sides and under the rear part of the bedsides and lower part of the front fender. My paint is almost gone in those areas. That stuff is Heavy Duty. I also noticed that the rear lug nuts didn't have much thread holding the wheels down. Other than that. You are good to go. If you come out west before you head east let me know.

JESSE_at_TLT
10-09-2006, 11:20 AM
I just talked to Bundrant at All Pro a few weeks ago and he had just got back a few sets of prototype gears for that front diff that he was going to install and test. Don't remember what ratios.

Thanks for the heads up Jeff! Yes, the truck still needs some detail work. I'm currently on the list for the front gears from All-Pro and also have the URD SC on its way.

Damn dude you did win the lottery. Can you get me a S/C too? I'll wait to see how it works out for you. The way I drive my rear end will blow up. With that S/C you probably won't need gears. 4.56 brought me basically back to stock. No probs yet. Oh by the way you suck!lol.

this is probably a stupid question, but will you (marco) also be using this truck as a daily driver? i realize of course you invested in it for its off-road capabilities. Also, if you dont mind(if you do, then you def dont have to answer), but what is the price range for a fab job like that? thanks

P.S. this thread is really inspiring..

mdiez1
10-12-2006, 07:05 PM
Thanks for the compliments man! Yes, the truck is my daily driver...Although I'm a bit concerned now with the supercharger and gears. Hopefully they will be trouble free. I know URD is a top notch company...so we'll see. But yes, from the the start, I wanted something ultra reliable for daily use.

As far as costs....ahem...a gentleman doesn't tell tales out of school.. :) :) but lets just say that yes, its quite expensive... Custom work, labor hours, etc. But to have a good fab shop like SDHQ do it right the first time, its worth it...if you can foot the bill...

Mdiez1, I am assuming you mounted the leafs on the bottom of axle so that the back wouldnt be higher than the front? Or is there another reason, just wondering.

Well they say the only dumb question is the one never asked so here goes;

What's the point of spending $$$thousands on this thing being made into a perfectly fabbed and built up LT monster, quite capable of being a race truck in fact ...to cruise the streets of Miami? Maybe I missed the part where you said you were gonna move to the west coast or at least somewhere with some sand (besides the beach ...)? I just read the whole thread, post for post, and I don't see why other than "cuz you wanted to"...I mean I'm all for pursuing your dreams and the truck is truly beautiful. I offer you nothing but congratulations on a great ride, but I'm just curious as to why someone on the east coast would build a L/T truck made for dune jumpin'.

Or is this just a case of, "I wanted it, I had the money, so I got it." ......Coz if so, well, that would make sense to me at least, lol.

Who says I "cruise" the streets of Miami? :) No, but seriously, I used to live in LA, Manhattan Beach to be precise, which I really enjoyed. This is a way for me to have some of that with me at all times. Yes, there are no dunes here and she most probably won't be used to her full potential, but that doesn't mean she won't be used at all...besides, I just really love prerunners!

beautiful truck and you dont have to justify anything to anyone, do whatcha like :)

Boy sure is easy to get people butt-hurt around here and get my words mistaken or turned around.

Here's why I asked what I did; because I don't know if I'm gonna be able to stay in california when I get out of the Marine Corps next year. This unknown factor makes me pause in my truck's progression for now. I went and built up my own truck like it was gonna be a backwoods mud explorer but I ended up getting addicted to the sand. If I fail in my near future and have to move back to the east coast, I'm not gonna need thousands of dollars worth of long travel shocks and bed cage and fiberglass, yadda yadda. It'd be pointless.

So I asked because I wanted to know how he justified this expenditure to HIMSELF. Seems like a lot of effort and time and money and trouble for something that will never see the terrain it's intended for.

But the same thing could almost be said of my truck since it mainly sees sand and it's a "mud crawler" as i like to call it. BUT ...I do take it up the hills and through the mud pits that the sand bunnies are terrified of so I guess that's MY justification.

I'm all for pursuing your dreams. It was just curiosity since I may end up fighting the same battle with my own mind some day as I scratch my head and ask, "Should I really go through with it?"

Do it. Trust me you will find some terrain that all the mud trux can't hit like a LT machine. I had one when I lived out east for 10 years. Marco doesn't realize it but in FLA there is a lot of good terrain to hit up out there. I lived there for 5 years.

I bought TC's rear kit through ORW and it came up to about $1200 without shocks...there are tons of shocks out there so it depends on what you plan on running. I'll be running King 18" triple bypasses, so it'll be about $2400 afterall is said and done.

Noite...this is on my 2004

We wanted to build something stronger and we fixed a castor axis issue that we found with the TC upper arms. Besides arent ours much more zoomy?

I've got some questions.

What drive shafts are you running? High angle boots all that good stuff? (4WD Shafts)

Has SDHQ do the sheet metal work inside the fenders, pretty affordable?

The rear-end. Spacers to get the rear to fill the glass or high offset wheels?

I want mine now.
