Richloam is about 50 miles south of Ocala. It's maybe 10 minutes east of I75, off of SR50. I think the name of the closest town(more like intersection) is called tarrytown.

Im about 15 min from Richloam...When I drive to say Neils area...thats about 2 1/2 hour drive for me...Richloan is a 56,000 acre play aera...Here is a link that will tell more about it http://myfwc.com/RECREATION/cooperative/richloam.asp the link there is a spot that says Regulations Summary for Richloam (http://myfwc.com/hunting/wma/2006-07/Northeast/RICHLOAM_letter_20060209.pdf)...click that...It will give you a map of the area of Richloam...right above that there is a link that says Withlacoochee State Forest (http://www.fl-dof.com/state_forests/withlacoochee.html) click that then go down towards the bottom and click on General Map of Withlacoochee State Forest (in pdf format) (http://www.fl-dof.com/state_forests/sf_pdf/withlacoochee.pdf) click that and see that this state Forest covers 7 different areas and what a huge amount of wheeling is to be done in this area alone...In that map the area of Richloam ( G) on the map is sitting above a pink area...That place is called the green swamp ..( listed in a different area ) but that is a area that can be run to ...I have never seen a ranger..I have never seen anyone doing things they shouldn't..The maps are well layed out...and the trails that are closed are marked...In Richloam I think I know of 2 trails that are closed and thats it...I know there is more but this place is huge...there is also places to camp there...I hope this helps out some...Let me know if you need anything eleshttp://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/images/smilies/kewl.gif

Which one are you going to be working at?

Bryan I might be interested in running down to richloam w/ you if you go. I could meet you in ocala where 301 and 441 meet and we could go down toether.

Looks like it's only about 2 hrs from me so I should be able to make it. I am looking forward to meeting with you guys and getting involved. I'm going to work for Brevard Emergency Services and they staff the ER's at Holmes Regional and Palm Bay Community Hosptial with Dr's and PAs. Should be a lot of fun and excitement. I'm not ready to settle into a Mon-Fri 9-5 job yet. Still enjoy the blood, guts and split second decisions. They hired both my wife and I (were both PAs) and the money was well worth leaving the wheeling in NC for the cash and getting back to surfing full time. I want my kids to grow up surfing like I did. Sorry for the hi jack.

Sorry for continuing the hijack but what's your idea of surfing full time? Unless its a busy hurricane season the surf only gets above 2 feet a hand full of times a year!!! Of course I grew up on the central coast of california where if you really want to you can literally surf EVERYDAY!!! :D I am also preparing to start my 6 month old daughter for a life of surfing. I am going to get a good longboard, 11 feet or so and as soon as she can walk well we will be in the water!!!

Hijack over... ;)

More hi jack. I love how guys who aren't from here bitch about the lack of surf. I know it's not CA. Trust me I know it's not. I surfed the US amateurs at Lower's in 92 I've surfed in every country in Central America and all over the southern Caribbean so I'm very aware. I will say this. The 7 x world champ and current champ is from where I grew up, world champ from 3 yrs ago grew up where I grew up the west coast finally won the x games surfing competition this year after 3 yrs of defeat by the east coast and more surfboard manufacturers come from Brevard county than any other place in the world. Now we may not have perfect surf all year long but we sure know what to do with it when it comes. Ok, I'm done. I just get sick of every kook who has been to FL for 3 days saying "I don't know how you surf there, there aren't any waves there, you should go to Hawaii". Ok now back on track. Just a little touchy 2nite as it would appear my wheeling trip tomorrow has just been nixed.

I'm with Tim on this one... because we both grew up in the same place. Surfing is huge in Brevard. I never got big into it but I know alot of people that go to the beach everyday to surf, so you can't say there isn't any surfing here. Maybe you need to learn how to surf better! That's one of the only things to do down there.

I hear ya on that one. Dont get me wrong I am not complaining about the waves here cause when they are good they are freakin awesome!! I mean I caught my first barrel a couple years ago at St augustine of all places! I do love to surf here but being that I live on the western side of JAX, its a 45+ min drive to the beach and sometimes I have a hard time convincing myself that its worth the drive for 1-1.5 ft surf...especially since my drive to the rock back home was 15min tops! I think the hole east coast beating the west coast thing actually has to do with the lack of waves, you learn to do some crazy stuff with not a hole lot of good rideable faces. Then when you go out to hit the bigger better sets of other breaks and your like "damn, I have all this room now to pull of this trick!" I didnt mean to get you going in any bad way. Heck, I would love it if you could show me some better spots one of these days! :D Sorry about your wheeling trip...

Maybe you need to learn how to surf better!

No big man. When I was a younger guy I surfed competitively and had several sponsors and I was a prick. I hate to say it but I'm almost glad my life worked out the way it did because I now surf for myself and not my sponsors. While I relly enjoyed the competition I was a slave to the industry and contest results. Now I just paddle out and look at these guys who are assholes because I don't have a surfboard that looks like a billboard and think their the real kooks. Ok back on track. Can't wait for Richloam. I may actually salvage a wheeling trip this weekend by going tomorrow. My buddy that was going with me had brake issues so hopefully he get's it fixed today.

Ya I think it would be cool to experience the hole sponsor/contest aspect but I am a soul surfer. I do it for the soul perpouse of my enjoyment. It s cleansing experience for me. I do have to laugh at all the aholes who think they "own" a break or what have you. They all suck!!! Hope to see you at Richloam.

BTW do you have a pic of your front bumper you could send me or post up? From what I can tell it looks pretty sweet and I am trying to find ideas to build one for my 01. Thanks!

if you taking 301 from Ocala....Takes about 1 1/2 hours....Run 301 down to Hwy 50 ...From there Richloam is about 20 min away

If everything on the Runner works the way it should I'll go. I have a few things that I need to take care of when I get back from Neil, rebuild the front axle, replace the clutch, get a front drive shaft, and I'm sure a few more things will pop up. I would like to go and wheel my Runner before the fall crawl at river rock.
