http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/197653163.html... a little more than you want to spend, and it does not say if it runs. Pretty difficult to find a running toyota truck/4runner under 2K. Best of luck.

Sounds like you waht the best of both worlds - a cheap reliable Toyota 4x4 under 2k...good luck! They are out there, but as you have found out, they go pretty fast! My suggestion would be to save up some more $$ so you have more choices.

or use the $1400 as a down payment for something.

Thats going to be tough
A decent 82-85 truck is going to cost you atlest 2 g's or more..
Save a little more and you have more possiblilties.
14OO will not get you very far.

RUN from the 71 Square's...RUN I tell ya, RUN!!! useless money pit, nightmare maintenance, useless money pit, NO A/C, useless money pit, AIR COOLED ENGINE (imo, good only for winters here in Az), useless money pit, UGLY body design, useless money pit, heavy/slow, and did I say... useless money pit.
These comments made by a recovering Air Cooled VW ADDICT who doesn't doubt the useless struggle to avoid relapse into the state of complete and utter denial that which engulfs one's life known as Vintage VW's.

You got really Lucky. Most runners in decent shape are not even close to 1500..
I think you need to sell me your runner for 2 g's
