Been a loong time since I was thinking about the 4Runner...
I remember when WCOR "invented" the LT concept back in umm 93?

Anyways - this question refers to the LT TC setup (or like) on the 86-9x (pretaco) Toyota 4x4s.

My understanding is that the "bolt on" kits all steer ya towards an 8" shock.

I do recall reading that the 18" 500lb spring was a "tight fit" with the SAW 8" shock (SAW being the "shortest" of the 8" travel shocks vs say King, Fox). Thus a 10" might give ya less preload on the spring.

Also Im a Bilstien fan and I dont see any Bilstien coil overs at the 8" level.

Based on looking athte pictures and such - a 10" can be fitted - BUT - since the top of the coil over is 2" taller over the frame compare to an 8" that seems to imply that

1 - there are no "prebent" hoops available.
2 - there is additional inner fenderwell cutting
3 - the height of the tower implies the need for a cross engine cage to keep the tops from bending "in".

Do I understand the issue?

Im going back and forth on a TC Gen1 kit (using torsion bars) or going whole hog and EDS / TC 14" travel (keeping the 4WD)...

(I have 300M torsions - those shouldnt be a limiting factor)

True dat.

Im already planning on remote res for the 8"
Im NOT racing the truck.

It sounds like it doenst make much sense for MY truck in its current "realsistic use" as far ths the "just how much can I afford" stage of project planning...

Radflo makes an 8" c/o shock to match the SAW length if you are interested.

The end cap is on the inside, so you can run a longer coil.

Thanks for the info..
Yet another shock I wasnt familair with before.

Id prefer Bilstien or King... I think the colors are prettier :)
