Whats up guys. Sorry that I haven't been posting a lot lately, been busy and stuff.

Friday at 1411, Gavin Michael entered this world. And what an ordeal it was. Jennifer had started "braxton hicks" contractions. She had never experienced them throughout her pregnancy, so I was very concerned.

Thursday, we had an appt at the clinic at Mayport, and she was having contractions then. What gets me about being in the military is that a glorified nurse that calls herself a "doctor" can make serious decisions. Anyway, she checked Jennifer out, and told her to ignore her contractions. I went to work, called Jennifer's mother over to keep an eye on her.

I get home from work and Jennifer has a serious migrane headache, and she hasn't felt the baby move in over two hours. I call the hospital at Jax. and they have us come in for an evaluation.

Another glorified wants to be a doctor but can't so joins the military for the title gives Jennifer a shot for her headache and sends us home.

We get home around 3am friday morning. Jennifer goes right to bed, and I read a book to try to unwind from the stressful day.

I go to bed at 0345 and Jennifer goes to the bathroom... and her water broke.

I call Jax, and they are full so they divert us to the nearest hospital. There is a definite distiction between Military hospitals and Civilian. Imagine this: we were treated with respect and courtesy.

Because she had broke her water she had to have the labor induced. Everything after that point went smoothly. I am so greatful that the naval hospital was full and that we were able to have our baby somewhere that treats humans like humans.

Gavin was almost a month early. He weighed in at 6 pounds and was 18.5 inches long. He is perfectly healthy, and I have to say that nothing I have ever experienced even comes close to being a father.

Sorry about the rant. I am exhausted, haven't slept much in the past week.

Thanks Chaz. Nothing in life that is worth anything is easy. I'm not a religious man but I am thankful to whoever/whatever allowed us to create such a beautiful lil guy.

P.S. Know of anyone who may be looking to get rid of their stock 05-6 stock steelies?

Congrats Mike,

I think I have said this before but do your best not to say" I can't wait until he can do...."
Enjoy every minute you have with him because he'll only be like this for a little while.

Well now that I had time to read your hole post...

I know what you mean about the military health system, However, throughout our entire pregnancy, birth and even the regular checkups that happen now, we have had nothing but good experiences at NAS JAX hospital. Sure there is the occasional seaman recruit fresh out of bootcamp trying tell me to hold my daughter still while he pokes her with sharp needles (whom I want to kill! ) but 99% of our experiences here in JAX have been great! What hospital did they send you to? We were going to get sent to Shands if Elizabeth came out any earlier which would have been cool to go there but we are lucky she decided to wait a little longer. Anyways, congrats again! Now go take care of your wife and kid!! :D

Bryan,
Glad to hear that you have had positive experiences.

We delivered at Baptist medical at Jax beach. I'm going to try to get Tri-care to give us a referral to the OBGYN that delivered Mr. Gavin.

Thanks for all of the Congratulations.
