Whats up guys. Sorry that I haven't been posting a lot lately, been busy and stuff.
Friday at 1411, Gavin Michael entered this world. And what an ordeal it was. Jennifer had started "braxton hicks" contractions. She had never experienced them throughout her pregnancy, so I was very concerned.
Thursday, we had an appt at the clinic at Mayport, and she was having contractions then. What gets me about being in the military is that a glorified nurse that calls herself a "doctor" can make serious decisions. Anyway, she checked Jennifer out, and told her to ignore her contractions. I went to work, called Jennifer's mother over to keep an eye on her.
I get home from work and Jennifer has a serious migrane headache, and she hasn't felt the baby move in over two hours. I call the hospital at Jax. and they have us come in for an evaluation.
Another glorified wants to be a doctor but can't so joins the military for the title gives Jennifer a shot for her headache and sends us home.
We get home around 3am friday morning. Jennifer goes right to bed, and I read a book to try to unwind from the stressful day.
I go to bed at 0345 and Jennifer goes to the bathroom... and her water broke.
I call Jax, and they are full so they divert us to the nearest hospital. There is a definite distiction between Military hospitals and Civilian. Imagine this: we were treated with respect and courtesy.
Because she had broke her water she had to have the labor induced. Everything after that point went smoothly. I am so greatful that the naval hospital was full and that we were able to have our baby somewhere that treats humans like humans.
Gavin was almost a month early. He weighed in at 6 pounds and was 18.5 inches long. He is perfectly healthy, and I have to say that nothing I have ever experienced even comes close to being a father.
Sorry about the rant. I am exhausted, haven't slept much in the past week.
