Anywere close by that you can pre-run?

Hey guys,

I live in Orange County and the only real place thats close to me that I know of to go do desert running is barstow. I love to go out there but its about a 110 mile trip one way for me and sometimes I don't have the time to head out there. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any spots closer to orange county that I can do desert like driving in. Thanks guys.

Not sure how far they are from you but there's also Pismo, Ocotillo and Glamis.

there's some spots out in banning/beaumont, Gilman springs off the 60, a good sized wash in San Jacinto....a few more random spots around riverside and San Bernardino county.....

Lucerne Valley, Stoddard Wells, Ocotillo, and Plaster City are a few of my favorites.

Cool, thanks guys, I am from the Buena Park area to be more specific. I'll keep these in mind and I'll look them up next time I want to head out. Why does stoddard wells, sound really familiar to me?

gilman springs is just past moval off of the 60 freeway.....take the gilman springs exit, drive for a bit and you'll see a bunch of atv/dirtbike trails on the left.....keep going about 10-15 miles further and you'll hit the San Jacinto riverbed, has no water, nothing but sand......that's where I go when I feel the itch and don't feel like driving far.....banning/beaumont is further up the 60/10....I forget the exits but if you drive around, you can usually spot something......

none of these places compare to barstow, lucerne, ocotillo, etc......but it's close (to me)........

BTW- a few friends and I are headed up to barstow/hodge rd this saturday afternoon....gonna stay till whenever...anyone's more than welcome to come along

There is a off-road park in Irvine. http://www.ocxoffroad.com. Close and legal if you do't feel like going to the desert.

Thanks snwbdr, I'll check it out. Like you said I wasn't looking to replace barstow, just a place that is close to satisfy the itch and not have to drive too far.

Thanks man. If you have time go out to Barstow this weekend everyone and their sister will be out testing trucks for the Primm. I gonna try to hitch a ride in a TT. Barstow Main Pit area exit Outlet Center Drive make a right and you will see all the dust stirring up. Thats where it will be goin down. I'll be there before noon.
