I have coilover Sway-a-ways in my 99 Tacoma. About a month ago I started getting a real annoying squeek from my front end. It took me a week to find where it was coming from. I finally figured out it is the spherical bearing where the bolt goes through at the bottom of the strut, connecting it to the lower A-arm.

I talked to Sway-a-way and they said they have never heard of it squeeking. It is so loud that when i drive down the street people stare. If I spray it with WD40, the squeek goes away for about 4 days. They suggest I send it in to them, but then I am out a vehicle since I would have to ship it to CA from CO. He said he could sell me the bearing, but doesn't know how I would install it without their "Special tools."

Anyone ever worked on these themselves, or had any problems like I am having? I don't know if I should yank it and ship it off, and spend a couple hundred on a rental car until it comes back, or drop the cash on new suspension and get it rebuilt then sell them to help cover the loss. Pretty pissed off, these F'n things have only been on for 2 years.

Thanks.

just a thought...i had a similar squeek coming from my upper a-arm area...turned out that the bushings were shot. not having any new bushings within arms reach, i threw on a couple of extra washers and tightened the crap down as hard as i could. problem solved until i get more bushings.

if you have had them on for 2 years it could be time for a rebuild on your SAW's anyways. i think that there are a few guys in the club with extra coilovers with some lift on them that you could swap in while you send them off to sway away. but i also gotta agree with will. i would take a look at the joints in that area as well

anyone rebuilding these found a good place to get them recharged at yet????? since a few people apparently have them im thinking about buying a nitrogen tank and setup and then people can just pitch in some money when they rebuild them. technically you should rebuild your shocks about every 20k miles...

i rebuilt my saw's last summer. any motorcycle shop that does repairs should have nitrogen. i went to apex and they did mine. rebuilding them is pretty easy. i had a frozen one so that made it kind of hard plus i had to replace a bunch of parts. anyways i have my stock coils if you need them. just throw in a spacer and you're good to go.
