Ok so I bought a sh%t load of fireworks for the fourth of july but never got to set them off because my sister in law wound up have my niece up in VA so I was up there for the holiday, Chaz and Skip know this cause I got the call when we were up in Corbett and I had to go home early. Anyway I know that fireworks are legal but I'm sure that you can't just set them off anywhere you'd like. I have a little man made ( i think its man made) lake behind my apartment that would be perfect to set them off over but I just don't want to be in the middle of my recreation of the bombing of Iraq and have the fuzz bust my balls and write me a ticket or haul my ass off to jail. Anybody know the specifics?? Thanks

Paul, try this (http://www.fireworks.com/fireworks_laws/laws_florida.asp) and this (http://www.sptimes.com/2002/07/01/Floridian/The_ruse_before_the_f.shtml) .

thanks Chaz, so you're saying they're illegal but no one ever gets arrested for it. I don't know if Boca really goes by that though, I was setting some off by my apartment a few months back and a cop was driving by, he slowed down and shined his spot light on us, we got inside before he could do anything but I still don't think he was too happy with us. I don't know maybe if we weren't shooting them over the road(at him) it would have been better? ha

Paul, anything that shoots into the air is illegal in Fla and quite a few other states as well. If you save them until New Years or next 4th of July you are less likely to get into trouble as there are alot more people doing them. My advice would be to stash them away until New Years and have a blast then.I still have a bunch from 4th of July to blast off on New Years. :D

Here's an FYI in case you all already didn't know about the high mark up of tent or store bought fireworks. I have a friend who for years set up a tent and sold fireworks. The $$ he use to make in the two weeks he had his tent set up was unbelievable. He no longer sets up a tent but myself and him (and a couple of others) all put in $100 every 4th of July and he orders everything wholesale for us.We all come out with close to $500 in retail fireworks. One example of how high the mark up is, say you buy a quality morter for say $35 for 1 tube and 10 shells,we get an entire case for that with 6 tubes and 60 shells :D do the math and you will see why Phatom Fireworks only has two big days of buisness yet can stay open all year long. And they get stuff even cheaper than my buddy pays because they are buying in bigger quantaties. I dig fireworks but if it wasn't for my buddy I'd never buy them.
