What kind of sliders do you have and how happy have you been with them? It looks like my wife might be getting me a set for Christmas this year so I'm doing a little homework.

EDIT (12/25/2004): For a little update see this post: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?p=23453#post23453

I have DeMello's tube, weld-ons. They're great, no complaints. I believe he's running a special on sliders. Check out www.demello-offroad.com

Demello Offroad Heavy Duty Round sliders welded on. They have worked great for me and I recommend them.

I just got the new AOR sliders they are beefy and are farly cheep if you get the u weld it kit 199 shipped. You just have to have a welder to weld the legs to the main bars and to the truck.

I have the AllPro rock guards and have no complaints as of yet, they have gotten me out of some nasty rock gardens. One time I was able to pivot my left side off a 4 foot rock to turn left in a sharp turn. No problem!

I guess I'll go ahead and put in my suggestion. I have a set from Timberwolf Fabrications. I guess it all depends on where you live and how much shipping you want to pay. The link to his site is in my sig.

I have demello bolt on hd rock crusher sliders and they are the great. Not cheap but cheaper than fixing body damage from wheeling without them.

I got a set from Stubbs Welding. Beat the crap out of them for a few weeks and slightly bent up one of the corners near the front passenger wheel. Only complaint is that they should of made the rod that connects the sliders to the frame closer to the whee wells. This way you can't bend the sliders up. But overall a great product.

Hipoyoyo sliders. Me and a buddy of mine made them. 1.5" dia. tubing for the main bar & legs back to the frame. 1.25" dia. tubing for the outer hoop. I used .120 wall

Could you e-mail me some pics of your sliders, as well as any other tips and suggestions? I'm going to try and make some myself next week, and I'm trying to gather as much info as I can. Thanks.

I'm surprised no one has bentup sliders, or maybe I just didn't read close enough. I have bentup square tube sliders and have beat the crap outta them, they have been to Rubicon, Moab and random local rock piles, respray and they are good as new!

Steve at C.B.I Off-Road Fabrication in Pocatello, Idaho, made the set on my truck. I had them welded on by a club member in Salt Lake City. Four tubes welded and gusseted to the frame.

They have been beat in Moab and don't show any wear or tear, just scraped powercoating.

Hey man, I got a little discount because I helped him out during the summer time. SO email him and see what he can do for you. I dont even know if he can make them or not, but definetly worth an email. They will be comparable to other prices if not cheaper.

steel is steel (in most cases), as long as the welds are good you shouldnt have any problems out of any sliders. just make some if you have the ablity to weld some stuff up. save some $$$ and spend it on your wife or something.

I have the sliders from CBI Off-Road Fab. In my opinion they are some of the best sliders out there for the money when it comes to protection, build quality, strength, and cost. But then again I might be slightly biased. But please give him a shot and take a look at his products. To get to his site, just click the link I have in my signiture....

I know theres many guys out there that make sliders, but do any of them make them in Stainless Steel? Theres enough work in my life and having to repaint my sliders regulary doesnt sound like fun. I know they would cost more, but thinking it will out weigh the cost of my time!

Thanks...

Dick foster has some bling bling stainless stuff. not sure if he made them or had demello or someone else make them. but thats going to cost ya some $$$$, it takes all of 2 mins to go around and touch up the sliders after a run. stainless would be cool as hell though..

If you have a friend with a tubing bender, just buy the material and make them yourself. I used .120 square tube for the legs and main bar, then .120 1 1/2" tube for the rest. They've been beaten against a lot of $hit and have held up very well. Just buy a can of Duplicolor bed spray paint to tuoch up the scratches.....

Jason Demello gets my vote, if your gonna buy them......

My vote goes for AOR's rock sliders. Their products are made for the rocks, very tough and they will stand by their products.

Hello,
I am not sure who your are by your screen name or location (alot of sliders go back east). Anyhow I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make you really happy!??
It is an unfortunate fact that all sliders can be bent although it should not be easy to do. If for some reason you thought it was too easy or anything at all I am here to make it right! We do beat on the standard model to make sure its up to par, and for 98% of the wheelers out there is it a good price, and a real bargain. However if you are a 2%'er then we do have some products that work better for that crowd. Shoot me an email when you can.

As far as the topic in general is concerned you as a consumer are in a great place. Everyone mentioned here makes great products!!! I have talked with many of our own competitors, and I can assure you that they all have your interest at heart. Good folks building good products.....you pretty much cant lose.
Take care,
Richard Stubbs

ps- The stainless slider- that would be awesome but trust me when I say it would be EXTREMELY expensive. I personally would TIG it which would add alot of cash, the materials are big bucks, and another problem would be warping. Stainless does not dissapate heat very well, and is very difficult to control distortion. One would have to have a very, very good sequencing plan. water cooled fixtures might be a neccessity aswell. This of course has more to do with putting them into production. Making them one off, and also being the installer would make this much easier to do. Also to do it properly the inside of the tubing would have to be filled with a sheilding gas (argon) again adding more cost.

But oh man would it be purty :D Off topic...I loved playing around on stainless using TIG in highschool. :welder: Hated stick welding though. Especially open root pipe. :xcrybaby: Unfortunately welding just didn't work out for me after that.
