I hope you guys dont mind me having this thread, I would post this in Newbie tech but im sure the crawlers wont welcome me in there. Thanks
What is a linked truck?
What is a single sheered coilover?

I'll try to put this in simple terms. A linked truck is where the rear suspension has ....I'll just find a pic of this. I believe a single sheared co is where the pivot joint ,how ever you understand it, has the bolt going throught the eye of the co and then through a tab or brace. A double sheared is where the bolt goes throught a tab, then the co eye, then another tab. The crawlers could have helped on this to.
here is a linked http://www.off-roadweb.com/features/0510or_team_gordon_trophy_truck/photo_16.html
damnit paulw you jumped in while i was typing. lol

On a linked suspension the links locate the axle rather than leafs on a leaf spring suspension.

Single sheer the bolt is only supported on one side. Double its supported on both.

Ive been lurking on the TTORA Dez section and DR for a couple weeks now and ive found a lot of useful info since ive been planning to build my LT prerunner....
Ive been wheeling lately and im in need of an alignment.....im thinking about getting a lifetime alignment at Firestone....my question is: When i swap out my Dhoes for an LT kit (in a couple years) is Firestone going to have trouble aligning my truck?????
In other words, do YOU LT guys bring your trucks to a plce that specializes in LT alignments? I dont want to get a lifetime alignment with Firestone if they cant align my truck in the future
Thanks

What kit are you going to get? If it's bolt-on there will be no issues. Dave's Alignment in HB is where Camburg gets their crap done at and is probably the best. I have a Goodyear lifetime alignment and they do a great job on keeping my truck as straight as an arrow ;) if Goodyear can do it I'm sure Firestone can. Get the lifetime by the way, it's definitely worth it!!

i have the lifetime and i'm looking into long travel in the next year or so, do they still give you alignment with your long travel? and how many times have you gone in

Yea at Goodyear they did. They kind of give you a hard time but just tell them to do their job. I still get it, and I've taken it in about 3 times since the LT.

that setup looks more just for rock crawling. just springs back there to allow some more flex. that is a 4-link though. a 3-link will only mount to one place on the top of the pumpkin. (as opposed to 2 places in the pics above)

Thanks Brock!
So the difference is the 3 link merges into a triangle with 1 heim. And the 4 link merges into a triangle with 2 heims...I know theres more to 3&4 Link suspension, i just want to get the basic concept down. Correct me if im wrong :)

yep, thats the basic idea. I don't know the advantages and disadvantages of it though. Did you ever get those fender measurements.

My Newbie Question
When running an LT setup such as the TC kit for the 05+ tacos can you use any shock/ coil over that will fit?
When running a front LT setup do they always add a wider stance to the truck?
What about the rear? How do you get the rear to be wider without adding wheel spacers?
