View Full Version : Air bumps on my front long travel?

I'm sure it's possible to run air bumps on the Total Chaos front long travel but I was wondering if it would be better or not really matter whether you mounted them on an engine cage and have it hit a strike pad on the nut of the upper arm or build a strike pad on the arm itself off my frame. I would prefer to run it off the frame to the arm itself, but I don't know where the gussets are/what the inside of the Total Chaos lower arm is. And yes I know I would need to make a strike pad on the lower arm, my question is where should I make it??? (I know where a couple are but not all) Any help is appreciated.

Id prefer to run it off the upper uniball, but the spindle isn't exactly beefy... so I think the lower arm would be a better bet. TC should have a pretty good idea of where to mount the strike pad.

How about you run a Triple bypass and set the last tube up as a bump stop?

just as others have said, dont run it off the upper arm, even with spindle gussets they wont handle the load... the lower arm is your best bet even if it does want to rip the balljoint apart LOL...

bypass's would be a better use of your money.

Try looking at lightracing.com I may try their kit on my Camburg kit. Everyone I have talked to said it will work, you just may need to adjust a couple things for it to accomodate the LT kit.

DesertTRD is right on the money. With that particular kit, your best bet would be to buy another shock whether it be a smooth body or a bypass.

There was a tacoma at baja with a TC kit that ran bumps off the top of the spindle. He said they worked well and had them welded into his engine cage. Here's the post about it :

Yea I'm glad it works for that guy, no offense but I wouldn't follow his fab work...stuff from the past, don't worry about it.
