I am from Melbourne/Palm Bay, lived there until moved to Gainesville for school. Don't know of anyone in the club there though.

hmm....would like to find some peope that knows the area and can show me some places to wheel. Been here two years and haven't gone yet. Just isn't the same as Utah, wish I hadn't moved. Will do the family camping thing in Ocala, but not till the bugs are frozen.

Places to wheel in the area have been drastically reduced in the last 5 years.

One of the only two places left I can think of is called "the compoud" or "degroot." Which is near Bayside high. To get there go south on minton until it dead ends, take a right, then take a left at the first light (should be DeGroot Rd I think). Follow that south for a little bit until you get to the light at Bayside High and take a right to head west, the road should be called "Bombardier Blvd" Keep following that for a few miles you will be out there. There are miles and miles of paved roads out there with no houses on them, kind of wierd (long story). You can wheel all out there, there are trails everywhere. Watch out for the PoPo though as the area is a big place for parties and street racing and illegal activities at night, if you are out there during the day it should be OK.

The other spot is called Sarno Extension. To get there you get on I95 and go north to the second melbourne exit (Eau Gallie Blvd), get off there. Take a left on Eau Gaillie and go under the interstate, take your first right (I think it's called Jones road). Drive down there, you will pass 2 residential streets on canals. After you pass the secod street and the last house the road turns to dirt, right there there should be a dirt road that goes west towards lake washington. Follow that dirt road back and there are trails everywhere, this is commonly referred to as "Sarno Extension."

The area I just described isn't really Sarno Extension though, you get to the extension if you keep heading west on Eau Gallie past Jones Rd. After like a quater mile the road turns to dirt and continues over a dyke that goes all the way out to lake washington over the marsh. The only wheeling out there is for giant mud boggers. It's a cool spot to go to though.

Also, these places are semi-lawless. If you do go out there and get stuck DO NOT abandon your vehicle, especially at night. No one is going to bother you but if you abandon your stuff it might be the last time you see it, or at least see it in the condition you left it in.

Damn that was long.

Thanks for the great directions. If it's all mud then I need to find some more vehicles to play tag with. I may have big ugly tires, but stuck happens.
