i have a 03 tacoma and just recently lost my good set of keys. after going to the stealership and finding out a new key is only 7.50 but the remote is 150 it got me thinkin of other ways. i then got the idea of programming a land cruiser key like this one land cruiser key (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-2006-TOYOTA-LandCruiser-LAND-CRUISER-REMOTE-KEY_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33723QQihZ020QQitem Z300051811852QQrdZ1#ebayphotohosting), the key grooves are the same i would just have to get it cut at the local locksmiths, but my question is can the land cruiser one be programmed to a tacoma or are they two completely different units, after doing some searching i came across a site that shows you how to program the remotes and the land cruiser and tacoma instructions are the exact same.

I would say it won't work because of this part. "THIS SPECIFIC UNIT fits the following vehicles ONLY:

2005 2006 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER"

Your best bet may be to email the seller. If that one won't work he may have one that will. ....Steve

Key should be programmable to any vehicle. Making it fit the ignition and doors is the issue, though I've seen a few cases where the wrong sub key will fit the ignition but not start the vehicle.

Did you try it? Did it work?
