View Full Version : Can't see the clock!...Now You can

I have always been anoyed by the positioning of the dash mounted factory clock, and have a feeling that others are too. I'm 6'3 so I don't know if those less tall folks out there can see it but here goes.
Bend the wiper lever up bout an inch or two. Be careful. I'm sure you can break the switch assy. if youjust push the end of the lever up with force.
What I did...Take your right hand (like your gonna give your boss an uppercut) and grab the lever with your pinky finger at the base of the lever shaft. Now with your thumb positioned along the end of the shaft(like top hand grip on golf club) bend the lever up. You want the shaft to bend at your pinky, not inside the switch mechanism. My reasoning, the lever pivot point is probably stronger than the lever throw stops.
If done as I described, you should be able to see the clock. I did mine with no problems.
DISCLAIMER: This is what I did, and it worked. I make no claim or guarrantee that you WON'T f-up anything...more legal blah blah blah. Goes without saying but...you know. :D .

First off, I don't even know what kind of vehicle this is for. Secondly, why go bending things to make other things right? That's called Jerry rigging where I come from
Sorry but what kind of vehicle do you think its from? Come on man.

Hmm.. I'm 6'3", and where the lever is on my '98, I can see the clock perfectly. It's the wheel which blocks my vision!
If I bent the lever up, it would block the clock more- all in the seating position I guess.

Yeah I'm 6' tall and the steering wheel is the only thing in the way. The wiper lever is not in the way at all, it would be in the way if I bent it up though.

i didn't say your sas is jerry rigged. i said your sas is as jerry rigged as his wiper mod. and i happen to think his wiper mod isn't jerry rigged. toyota didn't design a perfect truck. we modify them to suit our needs. that's why there's no need for you to trash on his mod.

I got so pissed at not being able to see the clock that I took off the steering wheel and mounted a star lug wrench in it's place. I was so pleased with this mod until a friend told me, "why don't you just look at your wrist watch?" I said "that is an outstanding idea" and remounted my original steering wheel. :D
