I can't seem to find a diff drop kit for the 06? Does anyone know who sells these? All Pro told me that you don't need one because the truck is wider so there is not as much wear on the cv's.

I see that Trail Master sells a 5" lift kit for the 05+ and in that kit is a diff drop spacer and bolts, but they don't sell separately?.

Cool, I will let you know when I get together all the stuff I need. I did hear that several guys were having problems with the diff drop kits causing vibrations in the front driveline. The only fix is to take off the diff drop. I have also heard that you really don't need one for the 05+ trucks, but I am thinking it can't hurt, if it doesn't cause vibrations. I will get with you. Thanks again.

I haven't had any issues, negative or positive, to speak of with my diff drop. All of 3" of lift in the front and my alignment is dang near perfect.

If you're ever out in the East Valley, hit me up and you're welcome to take it for a spin around the block to form your own opinion. The X-Terrains rattle my teeth more than anything else...

Thanks for the offer. Most of the comments I have read were over at the main Bd. I also believe Toytech stopped including them in their lifts because of the vibration issue, and the fact that they didn't feel it provided that much benifit. Thanks for the info on the X-terrains, I was looking at those as an option.

Why do you want a diff angle kit? grrrrrrrrrrrrr I personally think that these are a worthless non-fix to cv angles.

Well... The negative is the following,

You are puttling angle and stress on the single bolt that goes through the crossmember. And you are chaning the angle on the driveshaft ujoint. Both ujoints on a non double cardin (sp?) driveshaft are suppose to have the same angle. When you angle your diff (incorrectly called diff drop), you are changing the bottom ujoint angle on the driveshaft. Thus why its possible to see vibes.

If it was my own vehicle... I would never consider doing this mod to my front diff.

Seriously Ron, why don't you tell me how you really feel. I am thinking twice as I learn more about them. I think I will just keep an eye on things (CV's) and repair as necessary.

I hope that I did not seem too harsh. But I honestly feel that it is not a fix by any means. Just my opinion though.

So i'll add a little more to this - why diff drops suck!
lowering the inner mount of the stub axle helps on the down travel but make the CV angle worse on the up travel - possible bad enough to bind. Do you plan on limiting the up travel? Lessining your masssive 8" of travel. Oh and for the resord I do not know if the CV is able to haddle the extra angle, it my well be bit definatelty somthing you want to check.

Interesting takes on the diff spacer, kind of, sort of similar information from a search. Maybe I'll remove them and see what comes of it...

FWIW, my 05 will remain mall rated drivetrain wise until the 3/36 is over. The lift on it now is a simple spacer lift and will be changed out to a true off road suspension and I'll do 4.56's and ARB's. Also, I doubt the 05+ will be able to be built as capable as my 98 4Runner or a 1st Gen Taco due to the size and some other factors. Capable, but no rock machine.

Well, I think many of the guys here in the bd have proven that you can modify a stock toy with an upgraded suspension (not specers and add leafs) and perform quite well. Tbob is a perfect example. That is why I am going with new coilovers, new leafs packs in the rear, Ubolt flip, skids, lockers, and armor. I am also flipping that silly inverted rear shackle to a regualr typ. Remember I still have to drive this bitch to work every day. I just want to be able to take it out and not worry about breaking something, not that that can't still happen.

Dont worry Ron, I didn't think you were being harsh.

I wanted to enlist as well, ever since I was a little boy, but because of some ongoing medical problems they would not let me. I told them they could put me on the front line, but they wouldn't budge. I guess I wasn't meant to be a soldier. Maybe my calling is somewhere else. Good luck with that. If your heart is driving you in that direction you cannot ignore it. Just make sure you don't loose one thing for the other.
Oh, and stop being such a DICK!

i have them in my toy and it stopped the early demise of my cv boots (i love my warranty!). no vibration or bidding issues. with this installed, you fixing you daily driving on your cv's more then you have to worry about full upward travel and angleing of your cv. my toy sees more street these days and i like the having the angle like its suppose to be. just my :2cents:

i also installed high angle boots from offroadsolutions (http://offroadsolutions.com/products/tacomas_drivetrain.htm)
just so i dont have to worry about them again.pricey, but worth it!
