There in something with right hand drive vehicles that makes me wanna get one. Would love to see the look as I drive backwards thru a drive thru so I can actually reach my food. Cant wait till I get the 4Runner up to par then I will be looking for an old '70s Mini.

ya, have toyota sell it in the US. no vehicle not intended and manufactured for the US market can be legally imported.

no, i didnt want to explain myself the first time to a cum stain like you and it still doesnt change the fact you dont know shit and shouldnt of tried calling me out to begin with. that statement still stands for the cruiser in question. you want it so you can purposelly flop and total it the first day? toyota would have to start importing it and selling it in the US dumbfuck.

great work? i gave you a link with everything you need to know you ungrateful bitch? what have you done other than post stupid shit?

The link supplied by your best friend in Texas has a lot of information and cruisers are listed but I do not know if that one is. You'd need a broker to help you and 19K cash for the truck and more for the broker and paperwork IF it could be done.

Sounds like a bad idea when there are plenty of good rigs out there for the same price or less in the USA that you’d not need to import or mess with. Get a Jeep or a Nissan or something. There are great forums for those rigs. Way better than here and you’d make new friends there.

Now thank your friend in Texas for the information, trade MySpace links with him or hugs or something.

In Socialist Canuckistan a vehicle built for another market can be imported after it's 15 years old, I'd imagine there's a similar loophole in the US.
i know, you lucky canucks can get JDM cruisers.

"1.) CANADIAN SPEC VEHICLES.
a.) DOT free 25 years old EPA free 21 years period, Canadian or rest-of-world. Some customs officers go by exact prod. date so beware, if you are early by a day you, may have to wait, each officer/crossing is different.
b.) What is required to cross the border for newer than 25/21 year old Canadian spec'd vehicle is one of two things and ONLY one of these two things, period, case closed. EITHER a letter from the manufacturer stating that your vehicle, identified in the letter by the proper VIN, meets all US safety and emissions standards for its model year, OR paperwork done by a registered importer/independent commercial importer. it is Toyota company policy to NOT issue letters of conformity, so don't even start there like the NHTSA tells you to on their website, it is futile, you will never receive a good letter.
c.) There is a list of Canadian spec'd vehicles that the EPA knows to meet US emissions standards, this list is available to the public and it is the list that importers use to make sure your vehicle meets emissions.

3.) REST-OF-WORLD IMPORTATION.
a.) DOT. In order for a Cruiser less than 25 years old to be imported into the US that was not originally manufactured for the US or Canadian market it must be imported by an RI/ICI and it must be on the list of vehicles eligible for importation.

Where Pinz and Unimogs ever built for the US market? Those are imported all the time.
e.) More exemptions. The NHTSA lists on their website import exemptions that go for the EPA as well, such as for show purposes, research, diplomatic service, etc. But for the most part those are temporary exemptions, the vehicles must be shown to leave the country within one year. If you are looking to have a trailer queen trail truck or if you live on a ranch there is another exemption. Vehicles may be imported for off-road use only and be exempt from DOT/EPA. The vehicle can be imported but it CAN'T be licensed/registered for road use, so no plates! This exemption however has its limits. For example, off road diesel vehicles manufactured after 1/1/96 with an HP of 50 to 100 must meet emissions standards and off road diesel vehicles manufactured after 1/1/97 with an HP of 101 to 175 must meet emissions standards. Lastly, there is another option. A vehicle can imported as parts, reassembled, and titled in some states as a home built vehicle form used parts. This loop hole was recently closed down in my state, but in many others this is a real possibility. The requirements for doing this are different in each state, so call your local DMV and ask."

offroad use only exemption i believe also includes use in mining, forestry, farming, and construction. good luck trying to convince the government thats what you want it for though.

I never said I wanted to import this truck, I just wanted to know if anyone knew what kind of hoops you'd have to jump through. Purity obviously doesn't, but I was hoping someone else would.

Coldtaco, an Alaskan, imported a Canadian BJ series to the US, he had a long journey as a result. Alaska to BC to buy it, BC to Manitoba to get import papers, Manitoba to ND to bring it across the border, then all the way back to AK. Met him and the Cruiser for breakfast, pretty sweet vehicle, turbo-D, cable actuated lockers, etc...

I guess Purity was right then, another wasted, meaningless post that does not even belong in Land Cruiser Tech because it is not technical, just drivel.

Maybe all your posts need to be in Off Topic by default.

Please make them ban you again, please, please.
