No more Coke Ovens...

From the Expedition Portal Forum:

I received an email from the land owner of the Coke Ovens property. She is asking that the OHV community not trespass on their land, which includes the ovens and the home (what is left of it). They are having horrible vandalism issues, which is destroying that entire area.

I know that no one on this forum (and most in the area clubs) would vandalise that site, but lets respect the owners wishes and not drive in to the ovens if it is posted "no trespassing" or not (the signs are getting stolen or shot up).

Just another sign of what is to come.

I encourage everyone to immediately report any ass hats to the authorities for what ever reason; vandalism, off trail driving, drinking/driving, littering, etc etc etc. Take a pic, get as much info as possible. It's time for folks to stand up for what's right instead of just allowing this crap to continue and we lose access to the areas we love.

someone has said that the "WAY" to coke ovens is closed, or something to that affect. but say's there is another way????

The route to the Coke ovens is open. The area surrounding the Coke Ovens is private property and the owner has asked people stay off the property. There are 4 routes I know of that go to the general vacinity.
