right now 7 leaf bolt on deavers, when i do my cage ill prob have to add a leaf or 2 to the pack
Tanto

RJ you've got to be the only guy I know of that has smoothies running through the bed with just a seven leaf pack.
Why not the 62" route? Just wondering.

not smoothies, double bypasses :D
cost #1, ease of install #2 and ill be linking it in the future #3
for the cost of 62s and all the setup for them id be 2/3 of the way to linking it

I say two with that big cell back there. I went from 7's to 9's and it made a world of difference in weight it can handle and the ride loaded off-road.

So you're doing all the fab work in house, yes? When is the rough timeframe of this purported "linking"?
no, i dont have the skills for this caliber of fab work. my cousin's b/f is going to wizard right now and he's gonna be doing the fab work.
the link wont happen for a while, i have to get the cage done first, then save up for lt in the front, then after that, i can save for the ford 9" and 4 link kit and the coilovers and bypasses to go with it

i had a customer who has the sc pulley and the crank pulley who shreded the belt. the ribs were sliced all the way through. the pulleys all seemed way to sharp and were cutting the belt. not sure if he has done anything about it yet.

drabnor

im prety sure its the nature of the beast
straight from their faq:
"Are there any complications with the factory electronics?
Some newer models (like the 97+ XJs[and Tacomas]) have more comprehensive electronic systems which will activate a Check Engine light when the manual mode is activated."
most importantly
"This will affect nothing else and exists simply because the vehicle is aware the transmission is not receiving commands from the factory computer"
so yea, it will throw a ce light everytime you put it in manual mode. i think im gonna get a scangauge2 so i can clear them on the fly(right now i have the obd2 diagnostic program so i can clear the code with my laptop)
Cool, Jerry told me he had some probs with his in his race truck but the wiring in that thing was.... bad.
Scanguage2's are the shit! I did a group buy on on and love it. it has MPG, corrected MPH plus it clears codes on the fly!

What are you waiting for? the SC to seize up on you? :p
I rebuilt the nose drive in my Gen 1 before I installed it, it's easy to do you just need to press the new inner bearing and the coupler on. I had a local machine shop do mine for $5.
Do you have any burrs on the inside lip of your idler pulley? I got one of the first and I have some roughness to mine but it hasn't shredded the belt yet.

we fought my damn front diff all weekend, after wrestling the damn thing for 2 days trying to get it out i ended up removeing the pinion flange to get the pos out, it basically fell out in my lap after i removed the flange. damn bellhousing kept getting in the way.
BIG chunks of gears came out with the gear oil when i drained it. ill crack the case sometime when i get back from baja and see exactly what went
new diff went back in alot easier, got it in around 7 last night but im waiting on a new front mount bolt to get here tomorrow from toyota so i can get some miles on these front gears before baja.
still have to drop and reseal my trans pan, change out both my outer tre's, get an alignment and get my skid plates back on

Sweet!!!
I say go with tundra cv's and get a custom axle for them. Cheaper to replace when they break and it keeps your small front diff from blowing up.
what did you break when your diff broke? Spider gears?
drabnor
06-08-2007, 06:44 PM
yep, completely killed a spider gear
1noobie
06-10-2007, 01:39 AM
Go to bed drunk ass :)
The spiders are the weak link in the Toyota 7.5 diff. So if you replace them then it makes it alot stronger. I bet there are some people on here that have their spiders left over from ARB or lockright installs. If I was in your position I would install and ARB. It's selectable and strong. Or you can go with a Lockright but they are not selectable and can kick in anytime.

2 bushings for each upper arm
extended brakelines
limit straps
rest of steering(heims)
gonna have Brandon remove the stock coil bucket/upper arm mount, fab burly double shear upper arm mount, coilover mount, bypass mounts, airbump mounts, limit strap mounts and prob remount my fiberglass cuz its falling off

decided to leave the bushings on the inner pivots of the upper arms. got the inner fenderwells cut out. upper/lower arms, front diff, front d-shaft, spindles, cvs, donahoes are off then it was time for a trip to Kartek...
800 bucks later:eek: i have almost all the hardware i need to finish, 4 uniballs & clips, 16 bushings, 4 heims, 8 misalignments, a shit ton of f911 bolts and some other crap i cant recall right now. still need straps and brakelines but not sure of length untill we get everything on
also picked up a pair of those squishy poly bumps (like the ones miguelitro is running) to go on the rear to replace the stock bumps(hopefully this will help with my bucking on hard bottoms)
also gonna have them put on the set of trd headers i have while there is no fenderwell
we took a bunch of pics but left the camera at the shop  :worthless

yea its gonna be impossible to run a tube or gusset between the front and rear lower arm mounts IF i want to keep 4wd. i changed my mind 5 or 6 times while i was up there whether to ditch 4wd and have him completely box in the lower mounts or to keep it and gusset them as much as possible. i chose to keep 4wd. so theres a tube rubbing just in front of the front diff mounts from my skidplate mount, he gusseted from the front arm mount mount to that tube on both sides. not sure whats going on with the rear as i had to bail too early... hopefully they will get the lowers ready to put on tonight or tomorrow then go from there. they are gonna have to put on those headers before they run the upper shock mounts so that'll prob be next

oh man it just keeps getting better and better! turns out the kings i bought need new seals, ok no big deal, then i get a call saying the shaft on one is so bent it wont even compress. ok shit so i need a new shaft. turns out the other one had been put in a vice which scarred the piss out of the shaft. soooo 2 new shafts and 2 seal kits and 2 hrs labor to rebuild...

yea but its gonna be 3-400 bucks to fix the bling :blingb: :suicide: :banghead:
at least everything is in stock @ king. unfortunately my header gaskets were not in stock at toyota so they'll be in on monday. and thats prety much where it sits right now. stock coilbucket is a gonner, inner fenderwells are gone too, stock exhaust manifolds are out and he doesnt want to build the upper shock/a arm mounts untill the headers are done

i don't beleive anything you have told us. i think i need proof. i think i need to see some PICTURES. damnit.
P.S. king parts are expensive. i need to buy all the same parts as you for my coilover rebuild... its depressing. :(

fucking shit! so nothing that i bought has worked at like it should, the headers dont have the correct y pipe so im fucked unless Trd can identify the headers from pictures that are taken once the 2 headers are pulled off(they were fully installed up to the y pipe[even had my wideband 02 bung welded into the y-pipe:rolleyes: ]) hopefully they can get me the right y-pipe or ill have to have it made from scratch.
on another note the lt kit is even worse off that was originally thought. on top of the lower uni cups being fubard, the upper arm will not clear the coil over let alone a bypass. gonna have to have a new upper made up. on a positive note, this will allow me to get my camber and caster exactly where i want it...

you sure your able to do this install, you have a used kit yes but i dont think it was bent. sounds like you installer isnt quite sure of whats going on with it.

yes, im sure he knows whats going on. with the arms in the stock pivot points the upper would not clear the coilover, maybe because my truck is jacked up but either way it wouldnt work so hes doing what needs to be done to get it finished and cycling properly. another note on cycling properly, seems that with the stock pivots its only cycling 14" not 16 or 17" like i had hoped. shit by the time im done modifying this kit to work i prob wouldve been better off just buying a tc or camburg kit...
hes got the driver's side 99% complete, still waiting on pictures...
hehe he said that with the tire mounted it sticks out a full tire width past my rears  bro-tastic

The upper arms that came with the kit, are they the box tubing arms that made a straight triangle? or are they the round tube version they released shortly after with the bend similar to a total chaos upper arm?
OOwballer
01-28-2008, 11:56 PM
straight tubing
CentralCoastTaco99
01-29-2008, 10:52 AM
i think thats why your uppers don't clear the coilover. i never had any experience with the kit, but judging by how they originally made them out of straight tube, then suddenly switched it to the TC style arm with the bend in it... it was probably done for clearance reasons at the coilover.

ya for sure. just a thought, the kit could always be ran with a 2.0 coilover and a 2.5 bypass. just set up the coilover as a coil carrier pretty much so it cant effect ride quality when it fades... but you already have the coilovers so it would be like buying parts twice... plus bypasses. lol

yep, not gonna happen lol
its being setup so that when i buy bypasses(2.5 10") i can bolt them right in and then revalve the coilover

lol yea its wiiiiiide, 84.5"
yep new upper arm/pivots(1/4" 4130 with 1/8" gussets)
the geometry is great, corners like its on rails
gotta figure out the spring rates, right now the 2ndary coil is too soft and the primary is too heavy so its pretty stiff
also got to figure out what glass to run, obviously the 3.5" flare aint gonna cut it. debating whether to go with the 05 taco or tundra front clip
have to find out why im throwing a p1130 code
