I've never been, dont know what its like, and trying to find some other TTORA members that have been there. I know you can rent ATVs there but what kinda truck stuff can you do there?

with how anti-import vehicles Mi. seems to be, I'm afraid I'm gonna be the one rice burner everyones talking about getting stuck on the dunes

I was there once, is really really cool if you love sand, i personally don't like sand so i didn't enjoy as much, the only thing i like was sand drag racing, that was pretty cool.

is it pretty deep sand or is it a nice hard pack? I'm only a 4x2 and this will be my first time in the sand

some spots are soft, and some hard, 4x2 will be fine there, there is even subarus sometimes running up and down.
good luck.

I have been there about 5 times and am planning to go at least once this year. I love it! I had my stock 2004 D-cab out there last year running with the grey wire mod. It did fine. I have never been stuck out there, but some guys I go with have been with their stock full dodge and chevy 1500's. It depends on the weather if the sand is loose or hard pack. Last year they had alot of rain so there was a lot of standing water.
Not sure about 4x2 unless you have a locker.
It is about 450 acres of sand. You can make your own trails through the smaller stuff, but the bigger hills are one way. Check out their site.. It is silverlakesanddunes.com I think. I can send some pictures if you want. As for ricer, you see everything out there from home built to showroom floor! Never even thought about the ricer part.

WindsorTaco, the Silver Lake Dunes are open from Apr.1 to Oct. 31. for everyone. Check out their site! 450 acres of fun! I would stay away from there on holiday weekends as they are packed.

It is a lot of fun. Been there a few times, real busy on the weekends. If you can go during the week it is better. I have not had my Tacoma there yet. Imports = no problem, my sister took her Lexus RX300 there and had a blast. You will need a flag on the vehicle and an orv sticker (16.25 for the sticker). Lots of fun if you ever go start a new topic with the date your going, it would be nice to see a bunch of Toy's there.

A couple of us from my work are looking to go either the weekend before or after Memorial day. We went last year the one before and 2 years ago, the one after and there weren't many people. I think the summer gets busy and especially holiday weekends.
I would be the only Taco though.
I'd like to take a trip up there some weekend in June. It's and 11 hour drive from VA. I like running on the sand.

Who would be down for a trip out there? I've been putting some serious thought into it, I just have to get a few more things for the Taco.
I definetly want to stop in Hell if I go so I can get the Taco in front of the "Welcome to Hell" sign

Have you ever been to the "badlands" in Indiana?

I went there once. I had a Ford ranger with a 4" lift on it and it did o.k. on the mid level trails. I didn't go on any hardcore trails. Don't know if I would take my 04 Taco yet!
