People will be arriving all days, the actual event is officially Friday and Saturday with folks bailing out on Sunday. There will be plenty of people to do stuff with on Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday. See you there.

seriously though...............if I have enough people that want to run it on Friday after I lead a group through Overdose I don't see why we can't hit BM afterwards.

Sounds like a plan!..............the first half is the worst part of it, once your past the fall it's all gravy. :D

We need to walk it to the fall and make sure there is a winch point before we run it though...........unless somebody wants to run it backwards to give us a winch point or somebody is sure they can drive the fall........I don't see us backing out or turning around once were in there.

I will be at the main camp by 8:30am. '86 Toyota flatbed, and possibly another buddy and his YJ.

Hmmm, I think I've seen a School Bus on tractor tires before. Obviously I'd rather not go BOOM. We'll see how the tires are doing and if everything is holding together at that point. If I'm not comfortable with it, then I can drive around and be the anchor point.

I was there after Josh's truck went BOOM! . I know the big fall. I'm just not sure how the stock (nearly 30 yr old) shafts are gonna hold up. I would have a whole lot less hesitancy if the front was cromo'd out with uber fancy joints. We'll see how comfy I'm feeling.

You should be able to climb it just fine, high center like I did and winch/strap from there...........I doubt our uber looooooooooong wheelbase rigs will be able to even think about trying to drive the fall!

If someone has a GPS, I have the coords to BM trailhead, and OD is an offshot of the BM wash, I know where it is.

I was wondering about the condition of the winch point. The last time kirk and I were out there (november I think) the winch point barely held to get kirk up. I winched off kirk to get up it. I've got a old d44 shaft that I can bring - which will be useless unless someone brings a sledge hammer.

I would be surprised to see someone in 'our' group (full bodied, long wheel base, etc) drive the last water fall. Once the front tires crest the top you end up sitting on your frame rails before the rear tires can get a decent bite. If you are too short its just as bad for the opposite reason - flop over backwards. Somewhere inbetween is the perfect wheelbase / tire size / hp combo that can do it.

Driving someone around to the end to be the winch point (if necessary) should be easy.

later!

Yup, thats the last fall. Only one way out and thats UP. :kewl:

Although there is another wash that branches off just before the turnoff to the fall...it could be a bypass exit - I didnt walk that part very far.

I've been told by a few people that there is a big rock about 75 feet from the fall that is being used as the new winch point. That's why I want to walk it first to see if that's the case. I could bring my 8 pound sledge also so we can try to make a new anchor if need be. I have also heard tale of a stretched wheelbase (120) Juggy making the fall recently............that's only 5" shorter than mine............will that make the difference???..........probably not! ;)

I opened this trail with some other members of my old club. The fall is not the only way out. You have another mile or so of trail running to go out another way....we did it the first time we went in....but part of the return road is washed away and we had to go over a hilltop to get back to the "normal" roads out there.

I know two guys in 108" WB buggies that made the fall recently. When it was less washed out, I used to do it all the time in my 105" WB Toyota with a flatbed. I haven't seen it recently, but I'm betting with a little work it's doable. The hardest part, IMO, has always been the very top....trying to fit through the squeeze if you can't just go over the 4' rock on the passenger side.

HTH,
Sean

It's definitely tight getting a long wheelbase rig around the corner on the top of the fall. I had to be yanked through there last time.

After working my ass off this week to try and finish up my giant POS, it's become apparent I will NEVER be done with this F***ing thing. Needless to say, I won't be making this weekend (not that any of you know me anyway).

Maybe another time (if I don't chop this heap of shit in two over the coming weekend).

If the heavens will show even an ounce of compassion on me it will be fixed by early afternoon after an emergency trip to Theiles. It's under the knife as I'm stuck at work anyway, otherwise I'd be swamp-ass'n it all weekend.
