Before Toyota made the truck into the "tacoma" they were pass side diffs. His truck is not a tacoma. I am interested in the coils as a choice for suspension and how it will turn out.

Congrats on beginning the process of :saw:

Slowly... Slowly... All tires are under it... just need to finish the steering and brakes. Then get the bed a little higher. Not sure if I should use longer shackles or a lift block.

Blocks dont always = bad. Ive been running some sort of lift block on my trucks for 6 years now. I can say blocks with certain leaf springs is bad. When I used them with the soft stock leaf back and 3" blocks it was a bad combo.
But I ran 3" blocks on my old truck with Alcans and never had any issue with axle wrap or other ill effects.
I currently run 1.5" lift blocks on the double cab.
Why just a blanket statement saying they are bad?

And I do agree that in some cases they are bad. Like the 4" + lift blocks that they supply for full size truck lift kits. Thats crazy. I saw one Chevy Fabtech lift that came wiht 5" rear blocks. I was like WTF!

Because they increase leverage on your springs greatly. If you don't notice ill effects yet, just wait. Your springs will fatigue quicker and axle wrap will be amplified. Also they have a great tendancy to crack and break, and that's always a fun trail repair...
The only way I can see them being safe for trail use is with a sturdy ladder / traction / anit-wrap bar.

hmmm... I was using the same set of spring on my last truck with 3" blocks with no ill effects? How long does one have to wait? Do you have any data to back up your claim, or is it just personal opinion. One could say that just wheeling in general is hard on your truck and could cuase more fatigue on many parts of the truck.
I belive that with anything there is comprimise. I dont see any issue with using blocks to level a truck. Other options... lift springs, (more arch usually means more stiff and less articulation), longer shackles, changes the pinion angle and everybody knows that you dont want them too long. Dropped hangers maybe? Lots of work for an extra 1.5" of lift.
I just dont see the DOOMS day with using blocks that people like to claim. If you dont like them then you dont like them. But spilling out opinion like its fact is just not responsible.

I would suggest that if you are looking for 1.5" or less you can do shackles or a 1.5" block. If more than that I would go AAL or new springs. :)

This fact is plain and simple, and also happens to be my opinion... more leverage on your springs = more fatigue. More leverage also = more axle wrap weather you notice it or not. I'm not telling you to take them out of your truck, but I am saying that they do produce ill effects as well as a few inches of lift. They may not break on you, but I have personally changed at least 20 broken pairs this year alone, and I can't say that about alot of other parts. You can't break what you don't have. I wouldn't use them and that's my irresponsible opinion.
ahhh... u use to think ranchos where good too. :p
Blocks suck and is a bad way to lift. The fact that you got by with no problems is good. The only good from blocks is lift. Everything else it does is bad it's harder on springs makes for more axle wrap, etc....

I think its bad on your leaf springs to be carrying all the Keystone around! Puts alot of wear on the springs and the frame. Geez!!! Dont you get it? lol
Quit being the Lord of Doom and let the person use some blocks.

Well it was just a suggestion... I am first going to lower the front and rear down and will probably not use blocks. I got my brake parts in and should have it rolling this weekend.... hopefully and will start lowering it. Making an adjustable coil spring top mount in the front.
