I know how you guys are all all pro fans but this seems like the way to go. The truck is on 31s and is going to 38s (that is what I have). I have diffs that are geared to 5.71s already so no problems there also have the dual case stuff.

Other suggestions please!!!

edit, please look below for updates

I have heard good stuff from marlins springs. As for the 38s, if you wheel that truck very much, you will break. Look into longfields to replace the weak stock birfields. Maybe some cromo axles. And get thirds geared with 5.29s. You will almost definatally break the 5.71s. Probably even before the stock birfields. Otherwise, sounds cool. Good luck.

I can't remember/find the thread of someone that bought this kit and mentioned it wasn't really a complete kit. He also said not all parts were 100% bolt on. The one that stands out is the steering arm. He said he bought another one from Marlin and it was a perfect fit. I would look into Marlin's stuff first. I have an 83 that will soon have marlin springs, and crossover high steer.

I got extra thirds as money allows for regearing. Weld the rear for now leave the front open until I upgrade the axles and stuff upfront. Since I have an extra front axle my friend may try to make a full floating rear $$$$

Another great axle shaft option is Poly Performance's 27 spline axles. They seem to be just as strong as Long's and they don't require any modification to install since they are the same dimensions as stock they just utilize way better materials and construction

I am going to call marlin and ask him about a complete kit. Trust me I know the allpro one is not a bolt on but it is complete. My friend and his buddy will be doing it all for me so I am ok with all that.

the marlin kit seems to high quality. when i had all pro springs on my 4runner they lost arch fairly quick and had bad axle wrap in the front. i went with hybrid rears in the front and chevy's in the rear to clear 38's. i also had a 3 inch BL. the 5.71's are a bad choice, go with 5.29's or 4.88's. another options would be to keep stock gears and go with dual cases and a crawler gear. the stock 4.10's are strongest and the crawler would compensate for those gears.

SCREW ALL POOR. Don't even give them the chance to feed you crapy customer service; go with Marlin and you'll be very happy. I would suggest going with the hy-steer kit in the front (you'll have to use their leafs and an extended front driveshaft they sell as well). Pick up a u-bolt flip kit for the front while you're at it. For the rear, their leaf won't line up with the stock hangers, so you'll need some new front hangers to get those put in. The only thing you'll have to worry about it a steering stabilizer (if you even want one on there), some shock hoops, shocks and 3 new extended break lines and an IFS steering box. While you're at it, I would suggest picking up some better shackles as well. It's a little different to have to piece it all together from them but Trust me when I tell you that the end result is well worth it.

I forgot about histeer. You will need it. Unless you want to carry a 12 pack of "J arms". I am a fan of Marlin, but I have heard that 4x4 labs steering is better. Worth a look anyway.

us YJ rear springs in the front of your rig. 2.5" lift rear YJ springs will lift the front of a toy just about 4.5". usually they can be found for under a $100. they will work with the stock hanger and shackles. as flexy as MC's springs but cheaper. If you want to run 38s but keep your COG low and have a flexy front you must tub your front fender/cab along with moving your front axle 2-3" forward.

for hysteer you need an ifs steering box, you didnt mention what year rig, so you might need to factor that into the price, along with time with a welder to sleeve the new mounting holes so you dont tear the frame the first time you flex it.

for the rear use allpoop or MC or chevys, they all work decent.

With 4.10s is it even drivable on the street??? I have a few t-cases and an adapter to mate two of them.

Tube bed on back CHOPPED front fenders and some hammer work up front.

It is an 84 extra cab factory Fuel injection(yes it does have it) power steering and AC, got the IFS box already so no cost there now. I was yanking them from a local junk yard for a while and selling them. Paid around $40 for them :)

Another thought was move rear springs forward and get the chevy63 for the rear. Problem finding all this stuff in the junk yards and then trying to remove it.

I know I need the hysteer. I just like the fact that the kit has pretty much everything

the year later update

got the complete marlin kit, selling the back half as the truck is cut right behind the cab, picked the steel up yesterday for tube frame and cage, one of the 5.71s were busted already so got 5.29s from Longfield with Aussie lockers for both axles and trusses and chromoly studs for knuckle and hub

dual cases are in, the extra front axle is under and the front is almost complete, plated frame behind the steering box along with the sleeves included.

It would be cheaper for you to order it from Marlin and have him ship it then for me, but thanks

I would run someting other than 5.71's. the pinion gear is way to tiny and unreliable. I've met many differnt people who ran 5.71s and not one person told me that they didnt break their set. I'd go with 5.29s. The all pro extreme lift is a great choice also

What do you need the 5150s for, not cycling the shocks quickly and going fast like desert running

Are you still going to run 38's? If so you might want to think cryo for your axle parts. It will make them 30%-35% stronger and its cheep. I was bustin longfeilds, shafts, and ring and pinion gears. Then I got the new one's croyed and didnt have any probs after that. I've since gone to bigger tires and a birf eliminator with CTM's and dont have to even think about them now. It cost me $100 total to get all front and rear axle shafts cryoed and around half that to do the gears. Belive it or not I know people who have had the whole front axle done. Housing, knuckles, hubs, shafts, almost all of it. Way over kill, but when you have the $ why not?

By the way. Yukon gears are the shizznit, great choice.
