After talking with Troy this weekend I have made the decision to bite the bullet and am going to regear and add lockers to my truck.
I have been unable to locate gears for an 06 as of yet any suggestions?
Also I am thinking of going with a powertrax rear locker and a ARB front locker. Any configuration issues I should be thinking of?
This being my DD is one of the reasons I am leaning towards the powertrax in the rear, and with IFS in the front the ARB seems like the logical solution.
I was a bit irritated with having to go back down and take a different route this weekend. So time to spend the cash.

Have you seen this thread on the national board? Pretty good info on regearing the 05+ tacomas.

As for lockers, I don't know anything about powertrax, but if you are thinking about going ARB in the front down the road, then doing ARB in the rear first would allow you to get your truck ready for the fully ARB setup down the road.
Is the powertrax also selective? Air?

Thanks Jacket.. here is a link to powertrax http://www.powertrax.com/noslip.html
It seems the gearing I want for my truck is not available yet so I will have to wait. Maybe I wil get the lockers and then the gears.. I just hate to do things twice.

I emailed Yukon Gear and they are going to have gears ready by mid-summer in 4:56 4:88 and 5:29.
I also spoke to Carl at JT's parts & Accessories and they have front and rear R&P 4:56 gears for $800.00 per set. The front set is a JT specific set and the rear is OEM overseas application part.
Front ARB Locker and Gear Set with micro-compressor rear gear set and powertrax locker complete with install kits for $2250.00.
Good Deal or not? Sounds good to me.

Since you live in snowy WY, I would recommend a selectable for the rear. The "automatic" (read always locked) units can lead to some different handling in slick situations. If only you ever drives the truck, that might be OK, but if others drive it, then it might be bad - they won't believe you about staying off the throttle in turns until they spin it off the road ...
DEFINITELY do lockers and gears at the same time! Labor is exactly the same, so you can pay 1x or 2x ...

Why not fit an Elocker in there? I love mine in the rear! I know where theres on efor $450 and it comes with the whole rear axle housing and brakes...PM me for details

Because he has to swap the whole axle - an elocker won't go in the "nonTRD" axle. I think the '05+ axles are wider than the earlier ones, so his selection is very limited and prices high...

I have a 06 Factory LSD out of a x-runner if you want a temporary option. They are not very stiff though and will only be a marginal improvement over stock. It would also need to be swaped out of the carrier it is in now because it is a 3.15 compared to your 3.73

x2 on the dual ARB setup if you can afford it. The lockers can be had as low as 700$. Put one in the rear and you'll walk most things, deal with the front later.
The only downside to a locked front end (and lockers in general) is 2x the torque through the OEM halfshaft assembly...think twice before hitting the front locker button.

Nope I have not had time to drop my truck off. It may have to wait until I go on my cruise.
