your pres recomended i post this here-
i will be rolling through moab on my way to your continental divide run and wanted to hit just a couple of the less crazy trails.
it looks like fins and things, hells revenge, and bull canyon. i'm hoping to either hook up with some of you or some random wheelers out there to run with.
Be nice to see/meet some people out there too.
i also wanted a recomendation for camping there if its not too hot.
thanks
Mike

LOL I am here now.
So camping is gonna be uber hot. Like miserable. Sides you will want a shower so bad after your runs. I recomend the motel 6, or 8. Always cheap. You are in off season now because it is so damnged hot. If you still want to camp drive down kane Creek (Before it becomes a trail) - and go past all the designated samp sites (Likely they will be full) and once you pass those you can camp pretty much anywhere.
Before ya do ANYTHING. Hit up the visitors center in town. Get the National Geographic trail maps of Moab East and West - (Or whateve ris most current) They are 10$ each and very useful for an overview of all Moab Trails. If you only get one then get the Classic Moab Trails by Latitude 40 deg maps.
Trails. Hells Revenge for sure. Fins and Things too (Though ti is much like hells revenge) Also Cliff Hanger. If you can sdo Hells revenge, Your rig can handle the beginning of poison spider but I would not recomend that trail unless you go with someone who has done it before. I am not sure what your rig is built like and what level of trails you run. Respond back and I will do my best to answer whatever I can. You are pretty well set for food recomendations. (I saw ont he other thread). Lemme know what else ya need! :D

33's locker sliders, fairly experienced driver.
i agree with the hotel thing:D and thanks for info on maps
sounds like my palns are coming together.
One more unrelated question for you now that i have your attention here- what kind of weather shoul di expect on the continental divide run? warm days cold nights kinda thing? but i guess up that high it shouldnt be too hot even day time.
Thanks
Mike

It can get danged warm during the days here even too. LAYERS. Bunch of Layers Mike.... Tanktop, long sleaveds shirt - WIND JACKET (It can be windy) wind pants too! It can be sunny and snow and sunny again int he same day up there. Also SUN SCREEN. easy to get burned at 12K feet. Oh and ditto that for Moab - as well as lOTS of water in Moab!
I posted up some more runs. I thinky uo can drive hells revenge no problem BUT if you don;t have a spotter you feel good with - I would not do it esp if you are alone... IMHO. Yeah it is easy but there are a ton of huge drop offs and it can be very un-nerving if alone... and never have done it.

rolled in about 6 am this morning, met up with some Scout guys who were pretty coool and one of their budies who didnt bring his scout had a rental jeep, did fins and things which was 99.9 percent boring, way to easy, but for my first moab trail it was really rewarding and fun!!!
sitting here at the redstone inn after having a beer over at moab brew. asked the bartender there where to look for a room, he called got me a res and 10$ off:D this place is unbeleivable!!! the scenery, the wheeling, the scenery, the heat:eek:
gonna wheel tommorow and then head towards CO, camp my way to marble for the run this weekend.
thanks for the recomendations again!

So if Fins and things was easy (yes it was) Go run Poison Spider (Then turn around and come back down poison spider instead of going on to do golden crack). That sounds like a challenging run for ya. Oh Cliff Hanger would be good too!
Looking forward to meeting you this weekend Mike. God I love Moab.

The Motel 6's wireless covers the parking lot pretty nicely, so even if you're camping you can get access...
