i'm running the nitto terra grapplers. they work out pretty good out in barstow for me and they are like 20-30 bucks cheaper than the bfg all terrains. and i certs from discount tire so if i ever pop em i'll get a new one for free if they have more than 50% of tread left

I've run BFG, Goodyear, Yokohama, Remington, and Bridgestone.
Think I'm going to try out Nitto next. The BFG Muds lasted forever and never popped one once.

What about the BFG Baja's? like 400-500 a tire... so they must be good?

X's 2!!!!
I am on my second set of Nitto's and they work GREAT! I have only had to have one replaced and that's cause I got some gouges in the side wall in Baja. The tire never lost air and I drove it aired down for another 3K miles before I could get a new one with no problems.
Hell Donahoe runs DOT tires on the FJ.
I want the "project" Nitto race tires but those are very hard to come by and only come in 35's or 37's.

Might as well go projects if you're going to do that. Only ohhhh $1,000 per tire. Those are the kevlar reinforced ones. Of course I don't think you will get your Tacoma to the ability to need these or the Bajas, they suck on the street.
Oh and I forgot, 33x11.5

Well I did get a nail in my bfgs, but thats because it was 3 inches long and people think that victorville desert is a place to dump shit everywhere, then I get nails, and then I want to kill those people who do that, but anyways heres a pick of that nail, I didnt notice it for 3 weeks, lost about 5psi over the 3 week period, so that aint to bad.

X3? on BFG AT's. Best all around that is really built as an off road tire. Triple-ply sidewall, check. Quite, tough, long wearing, and Baja proven by countless folks...
Seems Donahoe is proving the Nitto AT's by running off the shelf tires on their race truck with no problems...
Personally I will never buy from a company that puts out a tire with a flame tread or lightning bolts on the sidewall, thats pretty lame if u ask me. Guess the only thing worse would be brass knuckle gussets:eek:Oh did I say that out loud:p Joking... kinda:D not about the flame tread though, that's stupid but to each his own I guess

Yah I dont know if I could pull them off but they do great in the dirt, I actually like how they look on your truck, just not on sky high Chevy with 22'' wheels. and 2'' of tires

I always love when people spend so much on suspension, wheels, long travel etc.. then skip on the tires.. Its like buying a race car and then putting regular unleaded gas in it. All makes are good, some do better than others, but when you spend 200-400 in tires, I dont think its really gonna make that much of a difference between each other. Flame me all you want, but bfg, nitto, hankook, yoko, goodyear, toyo.. they all make great tires.. Its just all preference. Just like anything.. So set apart how much you want to spend. If you want to only spend 800 total, your selection is limited, if you want to spend 2k that opens up alot of selections. Hope this helps!! Good luck, im outy
Sorry for repost
again.. the best tire is the one that you can afford. lol

Eventually I want to have a street set and dirt set mounted and ready to go.
I run BFG ATs. This is my 2nd set. Whatever you run in the desert you will tear lugs off and kill tires. Gotta pay to play.:D

I have Nitto TG's.. and love them
heres something else to consider... I just bought a spare wheel and tire.. it only took 2 tape weights (.5 ounce total) to nalance a 3.5 tire. most car tires take much more than that

Projects well get flat spots from being parked over night, breaking hard, and get shit for milleage out of them.
I ran a set of 33" Nitto TG's on a 02 F-150 v6 std cab and got 52,xxx miles out of them. Id say almost half of that is OCO miles and other highway. Only tires I bougt for that truck.
Procomp suckass thats that.
BFG MT or AT are great. ran both styles in 35" and 33" on the old T-100
MTRs to much dig for a 2wheel drive. The T-100 had a hard time with them(35" and my buddies rangr also 33"

mt/r's don't have 6 ply sidewalls! they have 3, just like the bfg's.

I have heard that the MT/R sidewalls are stronger than BFGs. I have only run BFGs (both AT and Muds) and usually warranty 6 to 12 tires for every 4 I buy. Mostly sharp rocks or mesquite sidewall punctures in the desert.
Not to hijack the thread, but I would like to hear opinions anyone who ran BFGs and switched to MT/Rs or vice versa.
