Do these work? Anyone have any experience?

jet chips are typically for GMs (and imports i think) and jet modules are typically for Fords.
They do work though. Friend put one in an older camaro and big difference in power to the wheels

I have a Hypertech for the Impala, and I feel it made a noticeable difference, but Toyota really locks down their ECU's and the National Board reports I've seen haven't been too positive...

Go cut one of the wires running to the o2 sensor so the thing runs in open loop all the time........it will do about the same thing that that chip does :rolleyes: ........On GAS motors all those chips and programers are about a joke........you may end up with more power but it is never in a good way.

If you want to add some better power / mileage you needto look into what is holding your truck back.......things like exhaust, air intake, ect.........If it were me I would start by freeing up the exhaust flow.......it is god awful restrictive on fords like yours......especially the big blocks.

the factory exhaust is 3" dia, I wouldn't have thought that to be very restrictive:confused:

I could see changing the muffler to a less restrictive one but I don't think the rest of it could be made significantly less restrictive

Yours does not have the single inlet/ dual outlet muffler where the outlet pipe is like 2.25"??

that is the system I was thinking of..........but maybe I just don't know what the hell i am talking about??

Either way I would spend my money there rather than that chip......my :2cents:

Well, or they richen up the A/F ratio and give you more power by burning more gas...

it's got a single 3" going in and dual outlets like your saying so the last few feet are dual 2.25 pipes

so would 1 single 3" pipe flow better than the (2) 2.25"pipes there?

The muffler is the biggest issue..........it flows like crap.

The problem with the tail pipes is......if I remember correctly......is 1. they are not "mandrel" bent meaning they have dimples in the bends and the bends neck down in the middle......where as mandrel stuff (which is what the flowmaster kit is I believe) will be smooth around the bend and will remain the same diameter all the way thrue rather than necking down.......both of witch will help it flow alot better.

the 2nd issue with the factory system is it makes an 90 degree turn at the very end where as the aftermarket stuff should make a "sweeping" bend which will flow better.......think about it this way......can you drive your truck faster around a 90 degree corner or a 45 degree corner??

If I were gonna try something I would try the cat back system and perhaps some sort of high flow air filter / air intake before I would chip it. my :2cents:

I would do headers before a catback ... 1 - 3" into two 2.25", the bends etc are not going to be the limiting factor.

Air intake could be cheap power - I know on Dodges the stock airbox is SUPER restrictive, you get big power with a cold-air kit.

I did some searching over on a Ford forum last night, from what I found the only real gains could be gained from headers (like Troy said) replacing muffler or doing a cat-back would only improve sound but with no significant gains

As for chips/modules they work but they recommend the more expensive tunable ones like hypertech & superchip sell

Those numbers for stock are worse than I thought. I new these gen engines wore dogs but come on that is bad. 460 ci engine putting less than 200 hp down to the ground. :confused: I would start basic though and put some good spark plugs in wires and cap and rotor and you may want to replace the coil with a good new one. Other things you can try is to advance the timing a few degrees. This is a bit tricky because you have to trick the computer. It did a little bit of good on our 300 strait six.
