I trust my life with these guys: http://www.elderauto.net/
The owner, Ramon, is a parishioner at my folks' church, my mom had his kids in her class, and we've been taking our cars to them since day one. I proudly recommend them as the best mechanics in Denver.

More than likely you had water in the switch and was causing an intermitant short, and now after some heat and time it finally dried out and everythings fine. Seen this twice before at my shop. The problem is that both vehicles i've dealt with is that the switches started to corrode after some time and eventually needed new ones. Hard to tell without testing it though

Water in which switch? I replaced the park neutral switch already. This apparently is now an issue with the ABS. I took it back to Oleg after noticing that the ABS light stayed on, then the truck would not shift into first, then the check engine light came on.

Sounds like you have a corroded connection point. Have you played submairne lately? lots of water in the cab?

One thing for the guys looking at the park neutral switch is the code sets when: 2 or more shift positions are detected("n" and"d" or somthing like that) or while vehicle is in motion "n" or "p" is detected for 30seconds at speeds greater the 44mph.
do you have a body lift? How did you adjust the PNS when you installed it?
mayhem

No body lift... only suspension...
Should be getting it back friday, Elder Auto couldn't figure it out either.

I would say take it to the dealership, but all they're gonna do is replace parts til the problem goes away...

I work this weeken mayhem. I'm off sunday if you want to bring it by my house, but I kinda planned to visit the 4WP event. Do you have other transportation? If you could leave it with me a couple of days and I'll chech it out when I get chances. I work for Burt Toy if you want to drop it off there but I'm waayy busy at work.
What kind of tests have they been doing? what do the ROs say? Have they charged you yet? Can they duplicate it? I might need it a little while to figuer it out, we might be able to trade trucks for a while(if you can drive a stick) I'll have to talk to my insurance first though.

Just the scan, they informed mee that they tested the speed sensor today and it's fine. They haven't charged me for anything and they claim they can't douplicate it. But they cleared the freaking codes... wearing me out..
Yeah I have transportation and I can drop it off depending on how far you are from downtown and if it's acting up. send me a PM with your addy.
Thanks

That sucks that they cleared the codes. You have a check engine light, abs light is that it? The speed sensor will not keep you in 1st gear, they are looking at the wrong problem 1st. Have you had any major work done to the rig? Anything done around the time when the problem 1st occured? Try to think of as much info as you can. If you are worried about it not making it, i have a flatbed trailer I can haul it out here. I'll PM my info to you.

for those who care... here's the deal
I installed an aftermarket Tail light assembly a month ago and it was the root of all evil... The tail light caused a short that turned on my abs light and threw a code but only when my headlights were on. I got a new assembly and all is great!!!! The headlight portion of the equation is why none of the mechanics could get the problem to duplicate, they all workked on it durring the day.

I do care.. Troy recently installed some Lightforce lights that we shorted out (yes "I" shorted them out running crange and bumping a fender but who's counting???) that blew out his blinkers and hazards? Who knew? Post like these help Eric because it is random shizzy like this that always comes to pass right?
Still haven't fixed troy's blinkeys but when we do we wil post up the final issue!
