VENDETTA New 5 lug kit!!! [Archive]

Finally!!! My truck is going to get some LT. This is the same thread I started on Customtacos, but I know some of you don't go on that board so I'll post the identical thread here as well. This last weekend I was able to meet Landon and some of the Vendetta guys when they came up here to pick up my Truck. The Vendetta guys are awesome and very professional when taking care of business by the way, I've been talking to Landon for the last couple of weeks and the timing worked out perfect for them to build their prototype kit off of my tacoma. I will not go over details on the kit however, some things just need to be saved for the release, and I will leave that up to Vendetta when they want to release all of the info to the public. I will tell you though that they are setting my tuck up for bypasses up front and will be addressing the factory weaknesses. I can't wait! Thanks again to all the Vendetta guys, with all their combined experience, talent and reputation I can only see their business in this industry blowing up very fast.

Yeah its nice to be on this side of the Fab thread, I've been jealous of everyone's trucks forever! Like your rear build for example. Its just finally nice that I have have somthing to throw into the mix now. I've wanted LT since I got my first truck at 16 and its been 9 long years of waiting research, and saving.

The first kit we are coming out with for the 05 is a 6 lug performance kit it will be a upper uniball arm and full custom lift spindle. it will give you about 3" - 4" of lift, 4" more travel, 1 1/2" wider per side and clear 35" with fenders. next will be the long travel for that truck

Ranges from roughly 2-4k depending on what you want. And yes, I believe it will be a new competitor with the other kits, especially the Burg's.

thats pretty close we will offer 3 kits for every model and 4 for some. ranging from UCAs to full race kit will Desert Specialties Hubs and brakes

yup and it was on both sides. The shock mount on the driver side was broken and the shock wasn't even attached.

We have a completely new product line and unlike ESB we do custom fabrication.

Well I kind of designed it so thanks lol. Once the cab cage is tied in it won't look so "high". Also, if you notice where the top cross tube is from the distance to the cab, the space is perfect for holding tranny coolers. Could be coincidence...

I beg to differ. There are pros and cons like anything else, like for one the lower center of gravity you have with the five lugs compared to prerunners and 4x4s. Besides its nothing new, a lot of guys fix up and race 5 lugs in the desert. I bet you your 4 banging taco is as weak sauce as my 4 banging taco :D, and mine was probably a hell of a lot cheaper to start with. 5 lugs need love too.

The only things about the 5-lug that are "weak sauce" are the stock rack and the lower balljoint system. So we are ditching both of them. I would say the 5-lug is great platform because of the ground clearance. there is no subframe hanging under the truck to scrape on 2 track. And because the arm mount higher in the chassis you can get a lower ride height and have the same amount of uptravel.

I'm not totally positive I know what you're talking about, but if it's what I think it is then you guys are definitely cooking up one innovative kit. :eek: And let me know when you guys go into production on the "thing" we talked about, I'm definitely interested in that. You probably don't need a guinea pig but if you do I got no issues with that :D

All I have to say is congrats Viet your truck is going to be bullet proof for sure, I'm jealous.

Its moving along, the rear is 100% finished and the guys are just waiting on a couple more parts for the front. Landon says it cycles clean though:kewl: , can't wait! its really close though.

Got pushed back just a little, some other unplanned work needed to be done for the rear, nothing bad, I'll post pics when its done, Vendetta guys have some crazy cool ideas in there heads that they wanted to try out. Don't worry, once its all done and I get the green light from Landon there will be such a huge picture dump on here for everyone.

It was my plan from the beginning to build towards a race truck, this thing was never planned to be my DD, it'll be slow progress once I get the truck back from Vendetta, but my ultimate goal is to be able to race MDR and eventually doing a few more mods and doing the baja (I can dream). As you can see the Vendetta guys have been great at making sure they do everything correct and going beyond expectation with everything they touch on my truck. Truly and honestly glad that things worked out the way they did and I was able to have the work on my truck go through their shop. It'll be worth the wait.

I talked to Landon on tuesday this week. They've been affected by the whole fire situation down there (escondiodo area and other parts of san diego county). I think for the most part they're all okay and the shop is okay, but he says that they've been evacuated a couple of times and have just been running around so there has been no time to take care of the Vendetta stuff. I don't know if they're allowed back to the shop area yet, but he says once he's able to get back to it he'll try and update me, but otherwise its super close. I know they have more important things to worry about right now, so hopefully after all this is over everything is okay for them.

As far as I know Vendetta has pretty much gone south, at least the partnership between the guys have. I've just been going back and forth with Mike right now and we're working on figuring out a way for him to complete my truck. ESB Mike has really been good about keeping in contact with me and he really wants to finish the kit for me, we just ran into a couple of problems we need to work out before the build can get going again, one being where he can find some shop space now that hes seperating from Vendetta. So I've just been dealing directly with Mike now and no longer Vendetta, maybe the thread needs to be changed to ESB build again? :dunno:

So yeah, as Johnny said, in the mean time my brother and I are ripping up and caging his truck so we can at least hit the dirt again some time soon. Thats why I haven't been very active on the forums, its depressing when all you can think about is offroading and not being able to offroad. Seeing everyone else's bad ass trucks and builds didn't help :(
