I saw how it looked on Jamies DC, so i decided to do it on mine.....alittle residual glue around the edges, but then again its not a show truck. For mine i used Body panel tabs that were for "AMC, Dodge and GMC" (about 3/4" ) Dipped in some gloss white oil-based paint. Took of the fenders, pulled out the orange and blue snaps, then plugged the holes with the body panel tabs glued in.

Jamie...chime in with how you did it.

I dont have any pics but im sure ill get some later.

One of my flares (pass rear) got ripped partially off, so, I took the rest of them off to paint them. I have coated them in a bedliner material (Herculiner), but I want them to be less glossy in finish than they turned out. So I am painting them a flatter black or dark grey and then clearing over that to strengthen the finish.

Anyway...

I have a million things going on and am not going to able to get the flares back on for some time. I didn't want to ride around with holes in the fenders, either. So I went to the local farmer's depot (rural king) and found an old box of 50 plastic trim panel plugs. They are 5/8" dia shaft with a 3/4" dia cap. Push-pin like things. This is the perfect size to fit and cover the rectangualr holes that measure 5/8" fron corner to corner. I sanded, primed, painted and cleared all of them in Duplicolor Super White. I added a very small amount of auto trim adhesive to each shaft and popped them into the holes. It ain't pretty, but it beats looking at the holes, IMO. You can't even tell from a distance w/o looking really close.

Thing is, I kinda like it like this. It looks sleek like this compared to the bulk of the flares. Especially with the new, smaller tires.

Good work, I liked how Jamie's looked last weekend the tabs he used actually gave the truck the look of having rivots around the fenders which was cool!

sounds like you re getting bored! doing all these mods to your truck in this last week. If so, I am sure you can come down and help Dave out. I think he is putting in the gears for his rear axle this weekend and then maybe next, we are deconstructing and bringing back to life the TJ
