I can think of at least 1000 reasons why ADOT is one of the top 3 worst state agencies. Now here's 1001....
Unless of course they keep the current route...

Duh... Well let's see.... We could start with widening I-17 out past Anthem. Hmm.. Shouldn't Del Webb pay for that?
Of course if this purposed realignment were going to impact the Terminator Trail -which is not a trail but a passage cut by irresponsible offroaders (or a host of similiar such "trails") - then offroaders would be wetting themselves.

Sounds like your tree is calling you....it's deprived and in desparate need for a hug!
And for the record: Most responsible off-roaders would probably not be opposed to a trail being impacted for a freeway to be widened. Especially when said trail is right next to the freeway. It's the trails out in the middle of no-where (IE Bum Fuck Egypt) that the tree huggers want to close due to some obscure plant or animal that may be impacted - THOSE are the situations where offroaders would be "wetting themselves" and would to get involved and voice their opinion. Most of the "wetting" from the off-road community is due to the sneaky ways organiztions try to close lands due to some loophole and not bring it to public vote.

circa 1960 - only four roads north, all two lanes and narrow. They were: Hwy 89, Hwy 69, Hwy 180, and Hwy 60. Population: apprx 800,000
circa 1968 - only four roads north, one I-17 (built over most of old Hwy 69), the other three are still two lanes and narrow. Population: apprx 1,200,000
circa 2007 - only four roads north, one I-17, Hwy 89A is still mostly two lanes, Hwy 180 to Payson is mostly 4 lanes, and the good old US60 is still pretty much just like it was. Population: apprx 5,000,000
Present day I-17 is surrounded by the abortion known as the Agua Fria NM - can't open that up, can we???
So, what do YOU propose to do about all the f'n traffic???
