So we went today and it was sweet:woot: :woot:
So since it went well im planning on going again this Sunday. Most of the rigs that are going are all stock, but 4X4 is a must!
Meeting point this Sunday at 11:00am at the Walgreen's on Thomas and Power Rd just off the 202. Departure time at 11:20am Sharp so don't be late.
You can get a 2x4 in and out of the first cove at least.
I have done it a few times but if it's a close to stock truck it takes a beating!

Yeah I've seen some people do it also. I wouldn't do it tho

Sorry, everyone. I won't be able to make this one. I have family coming in from Michigan, and they'll be here around 9:30 or 10:00. I'll have to take a raincheck. I know Natty wanted to go. I don't know if he's planning on it or not. I like the idea of this ride being a "stock" friendly ride!! If you go again, make sure you post it here or PM me. Thanks.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! You guys had Tacos, an FJ and Tundra on the run?! Damn it!! I wish I could have made it!! Let me know when you are making this run again! I want to go!
I heard rumor of another LP/CK run in the not so distant future... from what I'm told, do-able with stock 4x4 Tacos... giddy-up!!
08-12-2007, 10:22 PM
we might do another run in about two weeks back to the lake. Brian I say we go well prepared and go chill beach side with a bbq or something haha
08-13-2007, 02:11 PM
Hey thats fine with me, we can go do our runs and make that our final stop or something. We can do a BBQ back there if everyone wants. I'm thinking we should get another one going Sunday the 26th. That should give everyone enough time to figure out whether they can go right? So thats 2 weeks from today. Let me know what you guys think!
08-13-2007, 08:34 PM
Nice Pic posted! Danm those Tacos look GOOOOODDDD!
I had a fun time guys!
Next time... I'll be more prepared to swim! No fun riding home in wet jeans!
08-13-2007, 09:13 PM
Ya that was a good time :D I know what you mean about the whole wet jeans thing... I'll definitely be ready next time.
08-14-2007, 08:51 PM
It doesn't look good for the 26th. I might be in SoCal for my Bday.
08-14-2007, 10:08 PM
well I'm going to post a new thread and ask everyone if they would rather do it on the 26th or on the 2nd. Both are on a Sunday so we will see what the turnout is.

Newb question, but is there a trail guide somewhere I can download for this trail? I'd like to go out there and explore the coves, but have only road along on a AZVJC run once, a few years ago. Thanks again!
08-17-2007, 10:05 PM
There isn't "one trail". There is a bunch of trails out there. What we do is go out there and try new trails out and explore the area. We usually can tell by looking at trail if we can do it or turn around. If it helps. Im sure Brian can back me up on this.
08-17-2007, 10:26 PM
I'd like to head out there tomorrow morning. Got any suggestions on where to go? Or maybe a resource book that has the more elaborate trails in Arizona listed? I have "Arizona Backroads and 4 Wheel Drive Trails", but it doesn't list anything you guys talk about (I.E Saguaro Lake, Terminator, and such.) Thanks for the help.

I dont have any recommendations for trail guides, but if you look in your books look for "Butcher Jones" that is what the little camp area is called. If you take the first Butcher exit then you will go through a little parking area right next to the lake, follow it back until you see a gate. That is where the trails start, its a big wash and you will find the trails back a little ways. If you find the next wash south, take that to your right and you will run into the first cove. hopefully that helps.
On another note: I'm thinking we should set up the next run for the 2nd that should give everyone time to work things out. Let me know if you guys are ok with that date plz :)
