Wanna see what a blown rear diff looks like? These are pictures from Red Willie. The diff blew in Falcon last Thursday evening. All I can say is these suckers are NOT cheap to replace.

Ha ha I remember 12bolts looking like that (they have a tendancy to let go spiders). Damn the luck. Alot of pressure builds on those little teeth with 5000 pounds or more pushin back while engine torque is pushin forward. I always look at these things as opertunities to make my truck better. That is unless I'm broke.lol

He was driving on pavement and it popped then leaked diff fluid all over...looks like it was shot and there was a blood trail! GAH!

We're putting it all back together (new rear diff) this week. More pics to follow.

Do you hear gear oil gurgling? Or just hissing?

If you need help I have lots of experience with ARB lockers. When I worked at Slee that was all they did there. I can set up a mean R&P if needed.

I hear/feel air rushing out of the breather hose. Quite a bit of it actually. I wouldn't say I hear oil gurgling though.

While I have it out, I definitely want to check the gear setup. It's been a little over a year since I had them installed.

Sounds more like the hard line broke. Make sure you have the o-ring retainer before you tear into that beast. Slee used to stock those along with the o-rings. On occasion I've seen the metal line blow out of the newer style bulkhead fitting. Besides pulling the diff those are usally easy fixes.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I'm hoping it's the bulkhead fitting, as I turned it a little on accident when I was fixing the blue line before Takeover.

I agree, it'll be easy once it's out. I have the o-ring, but need to make sure that AllPhase or somebody has the other part before I get it pulled.

The good news is that my dad is bringing my other car out next week, so that takes a lot of the timing pressure off...

Well, it's bee several weeks now and the new rear diff is not yet installed. Craig ordered one from Diamond Axles in Red Feather. Um, er, well, it is a well built and sweet axle, however there were some issues I won't go into here. That's for Craig to speak of. However, I will say, that after a few phone conversations, one of the guys from Diamond drove to Falcon, CO and picked up both the built axle and the old stock axle and is going to do some trouble shooting.

That is pretty good customer service.
