I am wondering what the width measurement is on a dana 44 hp out of a 79 full size bronco. Thanks

WMS is 65". PERFECT for the Tacoma with no mods to perches.

Hmm.. this one has radius arms and coil buckets, no perches. Werent all the full size broncos set up like that?

78-79 F-250 axles had spring perches.....78-79 Bronco had radius arms........both are the same width/dimensions (65.5 WMS) If you convert this axle to 8 lug using the hub assembly/brakes/bearings from a Chevy 44 it will be 67 WMS.

So if i keep it 6 lug, it would be a good axel for a SAS on a tacoma? Is it wider than my taco rear axel?

Not a perfect match for the Taco rear (60 WMS)... but it would work with some wheel spacers..........just don't run too large a tire with a setup like this unless you have a stockpile of spare axles for it. :D
2.5 Inches per side difference without spacers isn't going to be that noticable if you ran it that way anyhow.
65.5 WMS with 4.25 backspaced wheels...Taco rear with 2.5" wheel spacers:

Here is mine: Radius mounts/buckets taken off and leaf'd. Matching Ford 9" in rear from same Bronco. It would be rather skinny in the rear (61" I think) with out a different axle or a spacer(not a big fan of that myself). Mine looks wider than most even though it's not. I'm running a 2" back spacing on the wheels due to the skinny pizza cutter style wheels which gives the illusion of being wider.

Here is what it looked like fresh out the garage.

FYI, F150 super cabs had leaf perches as well as the F-250's. Or that Bronco axle could be usable if it has the weld on C's for the radius arms, although most Broncos had cast in C's.

Thanks for all the info. The guy that had this axel for sale also had the matching 9" and he only wanted 500 for both. But i am pretty sure this one didnt have the weld on C's. I am going to hit some junk yards as soon as i get off today and look for a waggy 44. Thanks again.
