I know this is a tech question. But what is the down side to running bais ply tires on the street?I think I have ready they don't wear well but is that the only down side?
Todd's tire question has got me thinking about these.
but they aren't cheap.
what are the pros and cons of bais ply tires?
this belongs in tech joe!

bias ply tires will gain a flat spot if sitting for any period of time (yes overnight is a period of time)
I have never been able to have a bias ply tire properly balanced... perhaps using dynabeads would solve this problem :dunno:
flat spot goes away after ~ 10 min of driving...
mud tires are difficult to balance whether they are bias ply or radial, so not really a con to bias specifically
punctur resistant... I ran over a nail in columbus with my LTB's, and could hear air coming out from around the nail... I pulled the nail out and that tire never leaked again... (5000 miles later, no problems)

I'll sum it up by saying you don't realize how spoiled you are by radial tires.
