I had a Pacesetter on my 22R - junk. Fought exhaust leaks at the head flange constantly.

I did have it ceramic coated (by JetHot IIRC), and that was awesome - way better than chrome or painted.

Well welcome aboard! You should come on our club run (club picnic) this saturday!

Oh and you probably did search.. the problem is that the search is so jacked up it is hard to find exactly what you are looking for am I right? (The Outside states LOVE to come here and tell newbs to search... we don't do that here in c-rado though!)

So yeah come with us saturday and we'll sit around and chew the fat on this one... ;)

Man I remember one of the big 4X mags doing a 4cyl yota exhaust system. Mabye look on 4wheeler or fourwheel dot com. Good luck!

Yeah, what the hell?! That CWest gibroni came right out of the woodwork. He oughta go back to Hollywood and eat some salad. Fucking Californianers.

Anyway, Vionts, you really oughta make it to our shindig next weekend. It'll be a good time, and we'll get ya introduced to everybody. You've been on CoTTORA for at least a couple years, longer than me I think.

little late but.....

I've had ok luck with Downey Headers (22re) They leaked with the downey gasket, I switched it to toyota and had better luck.

I build my own exhaust from the headers/manifolds back. I get some mandrel bend tubing and some straight tube and go to town. Magnaflow has some nice highflow catylists, I like there mufflers for louder stuff (my truck). Quiet, I just buy generic "turbo" mufflers.

On both my 3.4l trucks I run 2.5" with great performance high and low. My 22r loved the 2.5" pipe but it had a cam and head polishing. For a stock 4cylinder I think 2.25" would be a closer match. 2" or less you might as well stay stock, it doesn't seem worth it. Well exhaust is not really worth it either way, it just makes it sound cool.

Borla made a system (also sold some to TRD) and they were ok, the stainless seemed to still develope rust. MBRP might make a system for your truck, It fit nice on my Diesel (not seen on a toyota). Magnaflow stuff fits very well (not seen on a toyota).

Flowmasters sound like a bad fart on a Toyota :wiggle:

(where is the smilie shootin flames out his ass when you need him)

with the 2.7 im not sure how much a header will actually help you out. LCE will probably be your best bet www.lcengineering.com. as for a cat-back exhaust setup check out exhaust pro's at 112th ish and huron. they are just north of there. they do great work and can tailor it to whatever you are trying to do. and the prices are going to be about as good as buying some regurgitated kit. you honestly wont pull too much more power out of your truck. you might get some more seat of your pants feel but you wont really see any significant gains. i used to have a 2.4l and the only thing that really got any power took a good chunk of money. forged pistons, beefed up heads and a cam with a little more advance. that and forced induction ( i had turbos but for actual offroading a supercharger will be better) message me if you have any questions but ive done just about everything to a toyota 4 banger.... or at least the research for it.

Everybody here is awesome!!!! I am not new to modding vehicles..if you go on any camaro board I am fully versed..built my own engine, installed everything myself. The last 5 years in my Camaro have yielded 721RWHP and 10 second passes at bandimere. I now love my TACO and want to use the good advice of you guys on this board to avoid the costly mistakes I made w/my hot rod..I spent way too much money because I was too proud to ask for help. I wont make that mistake again w/my TACO, and need help here from you guys. Plus, I would like to meet everybody, and have some fun.
What is Saturday all about??? Please fill me in and let's see what happen's...Sucks being a newbie, but fun to start a new course of learning w/your good advice!!!

Vionts, Saturday is our annual get together "picnic".

Since it'll be a large group, and it's so late in the season, we opted to spend a few hours on the trail, then spend the picnic portion at Tommyknocker's Brewery in Idaho Springs. Check out the thread http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77720

The first post in it is updated with all the info. There is also trail info on that post as well. The trail is pretty easy apparently, with a few opportunities to play on some obstacles for those who want to.

OK back on Topic!

Welcome Aboard!

Check out URD's website. They have the JBA headers and catback for a 2.7L. Gadget has a lot of goodies for a 2.7.

Underdog Racing Development

Please let them or any vendor reccomended that you heard about them from the TTORA message boards!

LC engineering but..like $400 for 10 hp, however I've never actually seen any dyno runs for these.

URD's 2.7L MAF sensor is $250 + $35.00 for the MAP option if you plan on running a S/C sometime.

Jade has a lot of experience with URD if he ever posts!

Their stats show a 15 HP gain. I would say they are being fair with their claimes.

..... ya but its a little different with a 4 banger..... there isn't a whole lot that has changed with that engine aside from the intake manifold and EFI for a long time..... its really not worth spending any of the money unless you are going to charge the engine... IMO if you just want to look cool and have exhaust or something then spend the money. but if you want power then find an alpine supercharger or 2 t-3 turbos. then you can do those mods and it will actually net you some more performace.

I have the LC engineering headers. I gotta be honest, with my K&N intake and the headers I dont feel much if any extra power. there is a little more low end torque but thats about it. I think the next best thing for me to do is open the whole exhaust to 2.5" and get a hotter cam. then Im sure the power will kick in. take it from me, unless you want to do all of this save your money and go with a 3.4 swap or something. its hard to make more power with these little engines.

I've got no personal experience with the 2.7L engine, but I have to say that a camshaft upgrade seems practical for a genuine horsepower increase.

Installed by yourself or with help from the CoTTORA House of Wrenching, it'd be far cheaper than a supercharger or turbocharger, and would require less supplemental mods to make it work properly.

Well, this is crazy. I was driving on the highway and something fell off the back of a truck...hahahahah...and it went under my truck no problem, b ut then it hit something at the very back. Guess what it hit...my muffler!!!! So i went to 2.5 " from the cat back with a modest Pro FLow knid of muffler. Sounds just a tad louder than stock, but nice. The Butt dyno told me I got 5 hp from it over my stock muffler!!! At least I have a nice tip and higher tailpipe now!!!

I missed the event today..had a side job to finish. We should have a day in town that everybody get's together and just talks some bs. That is always the way I get some good info and have some good fun with people who have the same vehicles...

Anybody have any experience w/the module from ebay that only changes your air/fuel ratio to 12:1 in order to get more MPG and more HP????? I know that this is safe for engines if it is true to the claim, but what about some real experience????

A 12:1 AFR would net you less fuel economy but sightly more power. The problem is how do they get you to that 12:1 raito? Do they just trick the MAF? Eventually the ECU will correct for the rich fuel micture and get back to stoichiometric 14.7:1. The only true way to keep a toyota ECU from getting to 14.7:1 is to keep it out of closed loop. You could try it with the Coolant temp sensor but this will set a MIL.

You could trick the feedback from the O2 sensor with some sort of inline ecu but this would be very complicated.

Either way those e-bay boxes get there dyno numbers within the first 5 minutes of operation before the ECU can correct the AFR. Mostly a placebo if you ask me. Closed loop is hard to fool.

Open loop tuning could be had with some sort of aftermarket piggy back ecu that controls injector duration. This is what most people do for forced induction because 2/3rds throttle or more is where engine damage could occur. I'm going to be playing with a SMT tuner here soon but I have no experience to tell about now.

How does being pulled over for doing 46 in a 45 in my camaro sound? Not to mention the 50 questions from him about whether I thought my car belonged on the street...all this for him to point at me and say keep it slow....just as a geo mettro goes by doing 65 and he does nothing....and no i'm not bitter!!! HAHHAHA
