Does anyone know of a station that might look past tint that is too dark? I just had my 07 civic tinted before I left FL and they are telling me everything rear of the "B" pillar is too dark?!? The thing that ticks me off is I have seen TONS of vehicles with tint WAY darker than mine?!? Any help would be awesome! Thanks! :xbeer3:

Nothing??? Come on guys, I am not a poser rat that is going to screw things up for everyone. I see awesomely ridiculous cars/trucks that I KNOW dont pass inspection every day...I just want to get my little commuter car ok'ed...Thanks. I'll put up a 12 pack of your choice to the first person who finds me a place that passes me! :kewl:

not sure how it is on o'ahu, but safety check stations over here take sh!t quite seriously. most don't want to risk losing thier ability to issue safety checks (because it's good money). unless you get the real solid hook-ups, you may have to yank all that tint off your civic in order to be legit and pass.

good luck though, and please do not post who/where your check came from if you manage to get one :D ....

Dont worry, I would never broadcast that info on the net...I totally understand most places trying to run a tight ship but like I said I see TONS of cars every day with pitch black tint and mine is more of a smoky dark. Just pisses me off more than anything cause I literally just did it like 5 months ago! I will figure something out. I guess if I have to lighten it up then thats what I gotta do...:(

Sorry man most of the safety check stations here on Oahu are pretty strict.

:( where have you gone to get a safety check ?

I went to the Navy auto skills center. It was cool cause it was only $14 but obviously worthless. I was told about a place that might do it. If it doesnt work then I guess I'll have to change it. I am still confused cause like I have mentioned before I see TONS of cars with limo tint and mine is just a smoky dark. Oh well, I gotta do what I gotta do. Thanks for the help guys...If we ever get a BBQ or something going I will still bring some :xbeer3:

It's better to change your tint...the cars and trucks you see with dark tint will have to pay a large fine for each window. I think it's in the range of 275 per window.

i too would suggest that you put legal tint on your car. especially because its a civic. not sure if yours is fixed up or anything like that but due to all the racing on the streets these past many years, cops tend to target the imports. i myself have dark tint on my truck and i do have a few connections BUT like you said, its all run on a tight ship. like for me, if its for me or my family, no prob. but even if its for a very good friend of mine, they're still hesitant cause if the word got out, they will lose their license plus get a fine on top of that.

what is the % of your tint? i can try asking them.

Thanks man. I appreciate your willingness to try to help but I went ahead and did the right thing and changed the tint. Its not a "rice rocket" so I dont think I have to worry about being profiled as a racer. Its just a stock gas saving family transport. :D I think my tint was at like 18% or something...pretty far under regs. Its all good now though. This way I dont have to worry about finding someone to pass every year... Thanks again though.

OH and BTW...I have good news! I should have a new (old) runner in my possesion here in the next few days!!! :kewl: I found a smokin deal on a sweet 86. I will get pics up when I get it home.
