Took a whole crew to see the premier. 6 of us, with jaws on the floor. I hate the whole Hollywood scene. Haven't been to a movie in 3 years. But this was different; no pompus actors, no script. NO PROBLEM. The footage was fantastic. The true stories of the race were awesome.... a rider gets bumped off the top team, and gets to challenge his replacement in a true test of who is the best, and the other incredible story is about Mike'Mouse' McCoy. He sSOLO's the 1000 on a dirtbike. To watch what he goes through, and does to himself, is amazing. Makes Iron Man's feats seem kinda tame. And, to top it off, the ORIGINAL baja 1000 winner is back on a bike, at 62 years old. The dog can still hunt.... And don't be worried that it is a bike thing; the movie features LOTS of great truck footage, and what they do to keep the $$$trophy trucks going. They butcher them out on the trail, JUST like we do..
The premier was really good, with around 30-40 trucks and buggies on hand. Lots of drivers around giving autographs, and posters. Pflueger's trophy truck and trailer were on hand. Man, that rig/ hauler is a dump.... what, like $$1 million on it alone??? Incredible. Like an 18 wheel truck hospital. Probably no Oscars in store for this, other than possible documentary, but Damn, it inspired me. Went out and wore out all kinds of stuff at Calico the next day. GREAT!!!! :D
