Can anyone tell me what a body lift is and what a suspension lift is? I've priced a FABTECH 3" lift kit that comes with spindles, shocks, 2 brakes lines and 2 leafs for the back.

body lift uses pucks to lift the body higher above the frame. suspension lift raises the frame and all higher from the ground. the best way to raise your truck would be using a suspension lift.

So Hawaiianbuilt, the FABTECH system is the way to go then?

5 lug: it's really dependant upon what you want to do with your truck. Suspension lift not only increases your lift, but (generally) improves the performance of your suspension - depending on what kind you get, of course. The body lift will give your higher clearance, usually for the purpose of allowing larger tires to be mounted, thereby increasing the total clearance of the truck. The body lift is the cheaper (priced) route, usually.
If you do some searches on the main (national) forum here (http://www.ttora.com/forum/search.php), you'll be able to find TONS of info and opinions on lifts. Do plenty of research, as it can end up being a way to drop a lot of money on your truck, so you want to be sure you're getting good stuff that meets your needs.
Good luck, and if you have any questions, ask!

i cant say that particular fabtech is the way to go. but if i had a choice between that and a body lift, i would definitely choose the fabtech. suspension lifts improves the ride and gives you clearance, where as a body lift only gives you clearance.
what year is your truck and is it 2wd or 4wd? is money an issue? i could point you in a better direction with this info.

I haven't ordered anything yet but I'm leaning toward the FABTECH. Your info just confimed what I thought. Much Mahalos! I'm not crazy about the puck route. The FABTECH kit says that stock tires and rims will still fit on it after the lift. Good to know just in case.

Keep in mind the recon crap you are going to have to deal with after the fact also...I am a little disgruntled about it right now as I am currently dealing with that mess.

Mine is lifted 4" and I am only running 31"s. I dont know too many specifics yet. My appt to get my inspection is on the 7th. All I know is that the alignment has to be within factory specs. I will post up more info after my inspection.
