Hey all,

Time to schedule up the next HOW date. I am thinking either Sat Jan 26th or Sat Feb 9th (We prefer Saturdays) HOW is located at 1-25 and HWY 119 (Longmont Exit) Start time around 10:00 am.

EDIT. The DATE has to be Feb 9th - as the Welding Class is now on Sat Jan 26th. (http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1110328#post1110328)

We can't do the 2nd we have plans.

Any opinions?

Who needs work to be done?

Once we get it planned up I'll cook for the crew (donations accepted ;) So post up!

My job list?

I gotta get this heater blower motor working. As Jacob diagnosed and Brian (thefatkid) re-diagnosed the blower motor is fine. It is the relay and fuses that aren;t working. We did get new fuses and can;t seem to find the right size (even got the "right" ones from toyota and they don't fit. If Tory and I have a donor runner by then maybe we can solve it once and for all ;)

I got some minor mods I need done, but I may get to them before these dates.

My to do list:

lengthen gas filler to put plastic back so door stays shut
fabricate new mounts for safari rack then mount
purchase and install wheel well gap covers
purchase and install new negative wire to winch
install budbuilt belly pan and rear crossmember

Hmn I am sure I am forgetting somethings. But this is a nice start for me.

I still need to get on my dakar springs and install coil overs up front, i just never seem to have the time. It would be great to have some help on these projects.

Un-mount the front OME's add 10mm spacers and some 5mm trim packers and reinstall the RIGHT way...

Um, the 26th is the welding class isn't it? Perhaps after... and not that most of you folks will GAS, but there's an FJ get together on the 9th at Stevinson Toy at 6pm...

devinsixtyseven
01-11-2008, 05:10 PM
Good point...what about the 26th, the people headed to weld can drop in afterward? Must discuss with g/f but if we're in town I could bring the mig to the HOW that day...just a thought...normally we're in Summit on weekends :)...

If not then is no big deal as I have little to work on at the moment :p...so we'll probably head to the slopes after class if we're going.

Lysmachia
01-11-2008, 05:23 PM
Ah heck... we can HOW both days really. But The 26th will really be a continuation of our welding class if anything (http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1110328#post1110328)

So actual HOW wrenching work will more likely happen on Sat Feb 9th.

I was kinda hoping to weld these on while the whole front end suspension is apart for the OME issues:

http://www.chaosfab.com/product/accessories/05tacoma/59698.jpg

But we'll see how the timing works out since I still have to order them...

If i can get steel to make at least a temporary rear bumper, and my new rear x-member, maybe we can get around to bobbing/clearencing my bed, at least get it cut down/re-welded into place, so i can get it to my work for prep/paint?

Other then that, all i really need is sliders.

Oh, and if i dont have the front coil spacers out by then, that will be a must do thing.

spindleshanks
01-11-2008, 07:33 PM
I'd like to wire turn signals into my corner lenses so that I can stop that annoying high speed LED blinker I've got going.

If we're around I can bring the box again, 220V with .030 at the moment, on CO2...it'll burn up to 3/8", and sheetmetal with C25...pure CO2 is a pain on really thin stuff so I don't know if it'd be the thing to use for bobbing a bed.

fjc I'd volunteer my welder for the spindle gussets but I don't know if it'll burn hot enough to properly penetrate the spindle :). Anyone with skills is welcome to try, tho. Machine is a Millermatic Passport and IIRC I have a spool of .035 somewhere since you'll need it for that project.

I ordered TC spindle gussets from All-Phase 2-1/2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything, so I'm on hold deciding when, where and how to deal with the front end. I've got the enhancers and trim packers I want to put on when I re-align the springs, but was hoping to remove the spindles and give them to All-Phase to weld while it is all apart... Oh, and there's this "FJ thing" Sat night:

Someone we all know and some of us love is having a birthday on Saturday. :D That's right folks, TowerRigger turns another year younger, and we're going out to the PumpHouse Saturday night to celebrate. So if you're HOWing it up and want to join us, make sure and bring something to change into. All are invited!

Speaking of sharing, do you want me to bring my compressor and leave it? It's a good one, I think. 15 gal tank, 15 amp 120V compressor. It's just stored with the rest of my gear, just rusting away. I may want it back in some distant future.

Happy BDay, Kyle (It's Hell to grow old!) :D

Lysmachia

Ooh good question Don. I am thinking yes. We really need a real compressor. How many CFM does it put out?

Lysmachia
02-08-2008, 11:15 AM
Oh and for Kyle's gig: I'm getting us reservations for 8:00 - I'll get a table for 8 but if there are more folks we'll add to that. If we go early we can always go hit up the gameroom with brewski's.

If you are coming to the HOW before the pump house bring a change of clothes....

If not the pump house is here:
http://www.pumphousebrewery.com/

It's great food, great beer - and the under 21's are welcome to join too! Even better - is the harrasment we get to pile on Kyle (er Towerrigger).

If ya need to call me about anything my cellio is 720 - nine three three - three zero 71

Good question: I don't remember. It will keep up with most air tools, but not with a professional paint gun. I'll bring it and if you don't want it, I'll put it back in storage.

00regcab
02-11-2008, 11:01 PM
possibly wednesday

or possibly tomorrow

or possibly never!! ;)

depends on when i feel like getting the bodywork straight.

BTW: Those front spacers now have to go back in... ugh.

After taking the hitch off, taking the bumper off, cutting 12" out of the bed, and putting it back together, my truck is RAKED like a mother fucker.

39.5" to the bottom of the front fender (dead center above the hub, on the lower edge of the fender)

44.5" to the bottom of the back wheel well opening (dead cenber above the hub, on the lower edge of the opening).

Thats un-loaded.

Loaded, its raked about 2".

Either way, spacers have to go back in.... but im going to start by pulling the 2nd overload (add a leaf) and seeing where that gets me.

RedRunnertc
02-12-2008, 07:02 AM
When are you doing a rear bumper? Hell, even that crossmember is probably as heavy as the stock bumper.

Lysmachia
02-12-2008, 11:25 AM
Yeah do the bumper - and skip the spacers fo' shizzy!

00regcab
02-12-2008, 11:00 PM
the new x-member is in, it does probably weigh about the same, but it doesnt have as much leverage on the suspension, since its more centered now.

Im going to pull the add a leaf to start, and see where that gets me.

I know the rest of the bumper wont make it sag much. Maybe another 3ft total of 2x2 .120 wall for the wrap arounds, and some tube for bedside/tail light protection.
